Automated Flight?

what are required for automated flight for an electric helicopter or flying model? Can someone please direct me to any knowledge sourc?

Check out some of the university websites with a Google search. The kids are doing a lot with them.

Here's an open source helicopter autopilot (http://autopilot.sourceforge.net/) project. All of the pcb schematics and source code can be downloaded for free. If you're an electronics hobbiest, this would probably be quite a fun project.

If you just want to learn more about how automated flight controllers work, there's tons of good stuff buried in their mailing list archives (http://autopilot.sourceforge.net/lists.html). You may also want to check out the links on their recommended reading (http://autopilot.sourceforge.net/bib.html) page.

If all that DIY stuff is not what you're into and you've got lots of money, then you can buy everything from prebuilt controllers to complete autonomous helicopters from these guys (http://www.rotomotion.com).
