The scratch built boat witch I'm working on, it seems to pull sideways whin I put in reverce, and is hard to control, the rutter is the right scale for the boat, my prop. is not srowded, would the prop. wash be the problem, or would I need to add more rudder to the prop. side of the rudder.
Thank you for your time.

All boats are less controlable in reverse. Your propeller blade, is specifically designed to move forward also. So it will not move as much water in reverse.
And when the thrust of water is not being moved around the rudder, it really has very little effect on the direction of the boat.
the trick is to learn how the boat behaves, stopping distances, "prop walk" when in reverse, etc, and then use the boats dynamics to plan your maneuvers.

Thanks Umi:
After all this is my first R/C, and sofar I love it. mmmm.... I think I've got it, the bug I mean. the static models I've built over the years just don't look the same any more. I am still prod of the work, In fact I have been looking at some of them as future r/c units.

I've been to regattas and seen guys with single screw boats beat the pants off guys with twin screww boats (with independent control of each motor). At a R/C tug regatta I attended in Florida, I ran a 10 year old, 5 pound, single screw tugboat with a 6V Dumas motor. I won the barge rescue event, beating a guy with a twin (independently controlled) screw tug. My model of the USCGC TAMAROA took 3rd place in the event (my first regatta with the TAM). The guy with the twin screw tug had been running his boat about 5 years. You really have to practice with your boat and understand how it handles in the water.
