For those who may be requiring a bit more knowledge of autogyros, there is a book available which has the complete history of autogiros.

The book is entitled:

Autogiro, The story of "The Windmill Plane".
by George Townson

Mr. Townson went to great lengths to compile a very extensive collection of information on Autogiros. The historical nature of the book begins with the first successful flight of the Cierva Autogiro at Getaffe airport in Madrid Spain January 9, 1923 and follows the accomplishments and build aspects of autogiros by Pitcairn and Kellett ( Igor Benson ) which ceased after the YO-61 in the late 50's. This book contains essential reading for any and all autogiro modelers.

I was very fortunate to get my hands on a collectors hard back edition, which is now out of print. However there are copies in soft back edition available from Hannan's Runway. I have included their contact information to this post below.

You can search through all their books by going here.

If you want to find this book using their search feature you must type autogiro with an "i" not a "y".

It is highly recommended reading.
