Hello all
How do you get 1 degree right thrust & 3 degrees down thrust when fitting a motor mount plate . It`s a very small amount, is a jig required ?. If this has been disscussed before , a link would be great .

hi
with a tape measure and a steel 12" rule you can measure the side thrust
put a mark on the top of the fus 20" back from the motor plate
tack the steel rule to the motor plate so that the centre line on the motor plate is on the 6" line
then using the sizes from below adjust the plate to 1 degree
its not so easy to do the down thrust in the same way but 3 degrees over 12" is 0.630"
all the best

Thanks kdwzagi , The only way I can think of to get the down thrust is to get a solid rod of about a quarter " dia aluminium & drill a hole dead centre on the lathe to fit snug on the motor drive shaft . Attatch motor to plate , sit motor in fuse , pack play doh ( kids putty ) around the motor to support , adjust the 6" shaft to .315" down , tack motor plate with cyano , remove motor etc , & glue in pate . There is probably a far easier way but I think the above will work .

Just use the tangent function as taught in your math class. If you know the distance between two mounting holes on your firewall, just multiply by the tangent of the desired degrees to see how thick a washer you have to add to get the angle.

Thanks Rodney , I might have to chase up my maths teacher from 40 years ago though , nah I should be able to work that out . Might be better off just mounting it flush & then using washers & or balsa wedges .
