There has been several reports in other parts of this forum of people being very happy with their 70$ investment. Unfortunately not all the helicopters seems to be working well, but if you are preparred to implement some improvements (like changing to a better battery) yourself, even the first versions is a lot of fun.

Mark,
Prices are all over the place the USA. for example Target department stores sell it for $199.00 that is just so stupid, you figure they would see what others are selling it for
Radio shack is $99 , I bought mine at Sears for $69. JcPenny's has them for $79
The most clueless is Target Department store... $199.00 what dolts

That's really not called for. Positive posts on this little gem far outweigh the QA issues that have come to light. To the best of my knowledge, anyone that didn't start cutting things up has had the warranty honored.

Thanks Tiberius - You are right, an overwhelming majority of customers have had very positive results. Of course nothing (in life) is 100% and for those instances where our customers are having problems, we are fully willing (and eager) to help.

Try GadgetShop. I bought mine for £60 in the Edinburgh branch, and they have them at that price in the online store. It's not the latest version (wires outside the tailboom), but I'm getting 3-4 minutes out of it unmodded. I'm very pleased with it. Thanks for a great little model Petter! Next step is the cat-killer mod and a custom paper canopy...

I only have one BR and it is version 1 (wires outside the boom). Flew for a couple minutes max with the canopy, without too much fore-aft control. I wasn't too pleased, but I removed the canopy and the tail rotor ring and things got better. It then could fly for maybe four minutes and had a bit more fore-aft control. I then replaced the battery with a Kokam 340 and things got a LOT better. Total flight time of around 15 minutes, which is more than acceptable. I also added attachment points for a rubber band to hold the battery in, and that allows CG adjustment as well. With the CG a bit forward, it has quite adequate fore control.... not too much aft though, but it is pretty hard to back up and keep pointed in the right direction anyway, so I just go forward ;)
Other than that, it is still stock. Flies fine, although I finally lost a motor. Good thing I know a reliable source ;)

Ordered two of them at http://www.firebox.com/?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=992 as a present for my brother and a gift to myself :) . The very next day on Dec 23rd. I found them on sale at Safeway grocery stores (of all places) in the US for as low as $15, so I picked one up to make sure I had one for Christmas for my brother. There must have been a mistake on the price because the next day I went to get another one and the price was $35. Still very cheap, however, they were 1st generation (Actually i think 2nd generation), color black, with the wires outside of the tail boom. The ones I order I left in the box to ship back, however, curiousity got the better of me and I opened the box to discover that the ones I ordered were the newer generation heli's. I unboxed one of the new heli's and it flew much better (more stable and after setting the trim I can almost hover without touching the controller) with almost 4 minutes of flight time on the first flight!
I think i'll keep the old generation ( I really have no choice) and perform some of the mod's such as replacing the battery. I still flies well but I already cracked a blade and had to tape it together.

You must be brittish yourself, to accept that crazy price at firebox? :p
The firebox price is only interesting for UK people I guess, because from a euro currency point of view, fixebox is twice as expencive as that QVC shop in the US.

I got mine from QVC. It must be a real new version since the box was just plane white cardboard without any graphics at all. Anyway she flew a couple of times and then she died. It was pretty cool while she was in the air though. QVC is sendin another one out. Hope it does a bit better.
