Hi all
Im new to boats so treat me like a thicko, im need to get a speed controller, im running a 8.4v 700 grauper and im going to run 12 sub c cells through it, i understand this will push 14.4v up it, so im going to water call also, what would you recomend as a speed controller to do the job.

acording to graupner, sp700 8.4 motors pull 31amps, so you will need a esc that can hanle over 31 continuse drain... get it? something like the Jeti 450 would do...

only disadvantage is that this esc doesn't have bec, so you will need seperate battery to power your rx and servos

Will the motor be ok at 14 volts....?

Thanks for the info james,
gulio im not sure if 14.4 volts will kill the motor but some of the articles i have read say it can run on 12 cells, this is my only source of info

if you water cool it and run a small prop so it doesn't bog down the motor it should be a ripper, but the life of the motor will be decrease i would think, not very much though.

The 700 will take 12 cells and more, with water cooling only becoming an issue at about 16 cells. But I'd think 31 amps a bit low for rating you esc and would have thought 45-50 A closer.
