Measure the tip cord and the root cord, devide by 2. Next, multiply this number times the span. Then double this amount to include the other wing and you have it. Example: Left wing is 40" long, root cord is 10" wide(wing width next to fuealage), Tip cord is 6"(wing width at tip). 10 + 6 is 16 divided by 2 is 8, 8X40 is 320, 320X2 is 640.
Wing loading:640 devided by 144 is 4.44, 4.44 divided into the all up weight in ounces.
Let's say the plane weighs 38oz. 38 divided by 4.44 is 8.6oz per square foot.

hi
to get the area in square feet, measure in inches
area = ((root chord + tip chord)*(span/2))/144
all the best
