View Full Version : Best FMS model to simulate Zoom/Shogun 400?

Can anyone recommend an FMS model to use to train up for a micro heli? I have a Shogun/zoom 400 and I'm trying to sneak up on nose-in hovering. The problem I'm having is that all the helis in FMS are too stable (too easy), and do not accurately correspond to the way my Shogun feels in reality.
Is there a way to add more instability to the heli model? Perhaps someone can point me to a web page that describes the details of heli .par files so I can edit my own.
And before you post- yes, I've heard of Reflex XTR, yes I know the physics for helis are better, and no I can't afford it (yet).
Thanks in advance for your help-

I use a HIROBO Shuttle to simulate and turn up the wind, the model is still stable compared to the real zoom, but it really helps tune you hand-eye co-ordination, which is more important than accurate physics.

Thanks- The shuttle is the one I've been working with lately- Good idea about the wind, maybe I'll throw in some gusts as well- Any idea where I can find info on the .par file?

TheDudeVT,
I've got some .par info on my website (http://gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm) and Mr. Masuoka programmed a FMS 2.8 .par editor which is available here (http://rcp.web.infoseek.co.jp/fms_e.html#A8Editor_Converter).

Thanks ggunners- I took a look through the data on your website. There is an awful lot there and I will work my way through it. Unfortunately there is very little for heli files, but I'm sure i will gain a better understanding of the general structure from what you have posted.
ParEdit is an impressive program, but it refuses to even load heli files...
Thanks for your help-

TheDudeVT,
Helicopter parameters in the .par file have not changed a lot for version 2 alpha 8. Take a look at the heli's in version 8 and compare the .par file to version 7, they're about the same. So there's not a lot to change there. Find one that flies close to what you want and copy it to the same name as your model.
