Hello everyone,

I am learning how to fly with spoilerons/flaperons and I cant figure out how to get Reflex XTR to accept channels 1 and 5 as left and right aileron channels. Has anyone figured it out?

I dont think I can do it - and that would stink b/c I would really like to practice before I try the real thing.

Thanks.

I don't think you can do from your radio but i'm pretty sure Flaperon and Spoileron function can be programmed into the models setup. I have no idea how you do it.

I downloaded a glider that had flaperons that moved when i moved the flap lever on my radio. I downloaded it from the the rc-sim.com site.

If it's only differential aileron, that is set in the parameters. But there is no way to assign radio channels to controls in Reflex so far. I think they will have that feature in the future (oops!), though.

Til then there is only flaperon, no spoileron. You might add that function to a model in RMK by changing the 'special function' of the aileron points from aileron to flaperon. Ailerons and flaps (if some are defined) will move the same angle when flap lever is moved, i.e. 'butterfly' is not possible. That's only the visible part.

In the parameters, the flaps have to be defined geometrically. Flaperons are defined 'overlapping' to the respective ailerons. E.g. the wing has ailerons of 0.04 m mean chord from 60 to 100 % span and flaps of 0.05 m mean chord from 15 to 100 % span. Additionally, the deflection angle and the airfoil parameters for flaps must be set properly.

The other drawback (in addition to only equally moving flaps and ailerons) is that only positive (down) deflections have an effect (thats consistent, though). Up deflections are visible, but have no effect.

For me it's a minor problem to use down flaperons as spoilers til Reflex will have the full functionality for gliders. Recently they devoted their efforts to indoor 3D sceneries and models, maybe gliders will come next.

Anyway, there are only few gliders for Reflex so far. I have two more up my sleeve, they will (hopefully) be published this year. If it was my Thermik-Star you downloaded from RC-Sim, please note the accompanying Thermik-Star.txt file and consider to download the newer version from my website.

Yes it is your thermik star and i really love it. I have all of your models and each one of them is great. My favourite is the JitterBug. I'm seriously thinking about ordering one based on the performance of your sim model. Keep up the good work.

That's too bad, it seems like it would be an easy option.

Thanks for all the info guys.
