I want to build a small indoor gyro. I want it to be as simple as possible.
Re-enforced foam rotor blades. 2 or 3 ? what is the angle between motor thrust and rotor axis? Is the steering managed by the rudder? Is forward speed controlled by the angle between the two rotating systems?
thanks,
jimbo

Jimbo,

Just about any technical question you or anyone else could have concerning gyros can be answered at the Gyronuts website.

www.autogyro.com

There are also tons of photos there of personal projects.
Glad to be of service.

Thanks Sean, for the link
so much info.. I think I am in the ballpark with the angles and balance issues.
2 questions. If the blades are made very light, will I need to weight the tips?
Negative incidence on the blades or straight ahead?

jimbo,

The following setup worked for me within the confines of two basketball courts placed side by side:

GWS DX-A drive
GWS 8x4.3 prop
3-cell Lipoly pack
4 12"x1.25" reinforced flat foam blades, arranged in overlapping fashion at the root

Got a picture Jun?
Or even better a video!

Sounds interesting - the blades are very low aspect ratio

The autogyro is pictured in post #6 of this thread but with the "cheater" wing installed and setup for single (4x12"x1.25") and dual rotor (2x7.5"x1") configurations:
