Hey all,

I'm building an autonomous submarine, so I have to hook all my components into a computer to do control. I've order some motor controllers from Hacker and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the electrical control specifications out of them. They say they use JR connectors which I assume means that somewhere there exists a document which says things like input voltages and control signal characteristics.

Anyone out there know the specifics or where to find them out?

The interface to a speed controller is exactly the same as to a conventional servo. I.e. 0-5V, 1-2ms pulses in a 20ms frame. If you understand driving servos you have it cracked

If you need more details, look for discussions about servos, PPM signals etc.

Mark:

JR is just a brand name of one of the manufacturers of RC equipment. It is a plug with positive, negative and signal wires - where signal is the pulse width being generated.

For more info on pulse width modulation there is a good graphic, about one page down, at:
