hey i just got done building a big hovercraft. it is 1 foot wide by 2 feet long. i am using a 9.6 volt battery and like a 1/10 scale electric monster truck motor. the prop is like five inches long. when i turn on the fan it works really well it pops right up and has pretty good pressure. ok now for my question. is it at all possible to use a bag skirt on pavement? it works fine in my garage but as soon as i get it on the pavement it just craps out on me and dosent float at all. i have four holes that are like 2 inches in diameter. can someone help me out here. o yea if the bag skirt wont work could u direct me on how to make a C skirt for it?

Jdog:

a picture would help me understand but to me it sounds like one skirt isn't working on all surfaces and you want to make a skirt that can.

i think this should help you, just scroll down to "8. making the skirt">>

hey sry i dont have a camera so i cant get pics to u. um your links didnt work. im starting to think a c skirt goin all the way around it is gonna be my best bet. ive heard that bike inner tubes work ok for this application and its very easy to do. the only problem people are having with them is that it grips too well cuz its rubber. right now im using a poncho for the skirt. do u think that is too grippy? is that why it goes good on a slick garage floor and dosent on the pavement.

i think kite matrial would be the best, its ripstop, very strong and very light. try sewing together a few skirts by sewing bunched up bits at the bottom so it pulls the skirt under the craft.
