Hi Guys !! I was given an Aquila short kit and Fiberglass fuse as a gift from my family. I ordered all the balsa for construction, but can not for the life of me find spuce for spars and leading edge. Superior Balsa shows it as out of stock for quite some time, and I've heard them refer to spruce as white gold. Can someone give me a source that I am missing? Thanks a bunch.

If you use bass, I'd up the size some. Like use 3/16 X 1/4 for the 1/8 X 1/4 spars, unless you just order carbon fiber... yikes...

There are over 400 million acres of dead spruce in the north west that can not be cut due to "environmental" concerns.

Thanks guys. That gives me a couple suppliers to work with. I must admit that I have never had any bad wood in a Sig kit. Looks like I'm on my way. Thanks again.

I think you'll find that most of the Northwest forest is Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock, Ponderosa Pine, with a little Sitka Spruce growing along the coast.
My LHS (in this little podunk town) has a good supply of spruce that I think he gets from Sig. The quality is good, but if you pick through it right after he gets a new supply in you can find some really outstanding stuff, that is if you're the first one to get to it.
