My buddy stripped the spur gear on his first run with his ST pro. Is this a
common problem with these trucks? I havn't checked his slipper clutch yet
think that could be the problem?

My guess would be not having the proper distance between the pinion and
spur. Or, some fasteners were loose. Motor mount screws, the pinion
itself was loose, or the screws that mount the spur to the transmission
were loose.

I agree, check the gear mesh - the distance between the spur and the clutch
bell or pinion. If anything shifts under load or due to a hit or vibration,
then the spur will go for sure.

Are you talking the Evader ST? I have one of those and I have abused the
hell out of it. The only problems so far are broken plastic pieces from
crashing into stop signs and such. I am truly amazed at the beating this
truck has taken.

I have upgraded the motor and pinion as well, no gear trouble here.
