Hi All, I have never posted in this section.. I am a sloper for the most part... I do own a DLG and recently bought a 3m Hades.. My question is this:

How does a highstart work compared to a bungee launch? And how does a big plane like the Hades or other F3B plane do on one??

Thanks,

BD

Hey BD
i THink bungee launch and hi start are the same thing, i might be wrong though.More experienced flyers will correct me.
You would need a heavy duty histart for a 3m ship i think. A winch would prbally be the best option performancewise...but that depends on the model...

Hopes this helps

I believe that the bungee is the rubber (15-25 ft) with a short peice of string around 50 ft for fast launchs at lower altitudes where the hi-start is a longer peice of rubber (20-50 ft) and a lot longer string 100 to 200 ft.
The hi-start I use has a 50 ft rubber and a 150 ft string.
It is recommended to launch 2M and up to 120 inchs. I launch a 2M with it all I can say it WOW! the altitude is great but it does take some real estate to lay it out and pull it.

You cam get a good high start from www.aerofoam.com. I think they are still around. They are alittle costly but they are the best I have found. You will want the 3 meter and up size. If lauched properly they will get you high enough to do a little thermal sniffing. good luck

This thread has some excellent discussions on hi-starts. Picks up around the bottom of the second page with info you would want then continues with lots of good stuff.
