What do you guys use to clean your nitro trucks? Is regular degreaser from
WalMart any good?

I use 50% Simple Green 50% water mix.
Scrub with a soft toothbrush.
Dry well. (air compressor or hairdryer)
Follow up with a light mist of denatured alcohol or apply light lubricant
(wd-40) to parts that will rust.
Re-oil bearings.
Works very well.
However do not get on electronics.
Do not get solution inside motor or pipe.
50% Simple Green solution is great for cleaning air filter foam as well.
Rinse good and dry well (squeeze in a towel or rag) re-apply filter oil.
Has a nice smell too!

On my RC10GT I use HPI Nitro Car Cleaner. It comes in a tall aerosol can and
has a slimmer tube to increase pressure, kind of like the red straw that
comes with WD40. The stuff works pretty well, I have been using the same can
for a few months, just spray some on and use a cloth to wipe it off.

Thanks for the info

Is simple green something you can buy off a shelf at a normal department
store?

What type of oil do you use on your bearings?

Yes, you can find it easily in automotive sections at dept. stores in about
a 1-2 liter bottle..can also be found at some hardware or other stores in
gallon jugs. It's also bio-degradible and non-toxic.
Add a rinse step in my description after the toothbrush scrubbing.
Basically, spray-scrub-rinse-dry-then treat (lube) specific parts.
I mix / spray it on with a plant spray squirt bottle and have a separate
bottle for plain water to rinse. Easy enough to find the spray bottles at
dept. store as well.
The oil I use for the bearings is called Labelle 108 oil.
It is a multi purpose,plastic compatible,light oil.
I get it at the LHS.
Although,any multi purpose,plastic compatible,light oil should work.

Denatured alcohol in an old Windex bottle, and Simple Green.

Just plain old warm soapy water in a bucket to clean everything except
engine and electronics. Denatured alcohol in spray bottle and old
toothbrush to clean engine and electronics. Electronics don't mind the
alcohol at all. Don't use rubbing alcohol since it contains water.
Air compressor to dry parts.
I usually leave the air filter in the soapy water and clean them last,
squeeze and blow dry the filter then re-oil.
It usually takes me about 3 beers to clean two trucks, or an hour.
