can anyone make a simple electronic speed controller? i am also new so how exactly does a speed controller do its job? there are 3 lines but only 2 are needed to run a motor?????? :confused: . i intend to use one of these to control a cd rom motor in an airplane. so if anyone can help, thanks :D

Brushed motors require the simple two wire controllers. Internal motor brushes act as switches as the motor turns to change the current flow directions so that motor poles pull/push against the motor magnets.

Brushless motors have no brushes and the controller needs more smarts to sense when to change current directions.
