I am having difficulties finding the mylar type material that the inexpensive blimps are made out of. I need to make a couple different shape bags for a project that I am working on for school. I also need to know how the material is welded to itself. It appears to be melted together. I did a few searches with no luck so i hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Paul

Try kite supply stores. Also a good source of kevlar thread and carbon fiber rods and tubes.

I am new to the LTA stuff, and am building my first. I am using the emergency survival blankets for my envelope...at least for my first it's working fine so far... and mylar too.

how are you sealing the emergency blanket and mylar. Heat or some sort of adhesive.

thanks

Model Research Labs sells the thinnest mylar available, but only small width.

Pec Polymer should be able to sell you raw mylar, they are the originators of R/C Airships, and I bet they do keep metallized nylon (mylar) in stock

West Coast Blimps can sell you raw mylar too - 760-375-2108 - tell them Plantraco sent you.

Plantraco (that's us) can sell you Blimp or saucer balloons that you can iron out to make a smaller balloon. It's a good trick if you want to make something smaller.
We are not really set up to sell the raw mylar material, but I guess if there were enough demand we could easily bring it in. Maybe I'll order a small roll and sell it together with a Blimp Builders CDROM.

Now with our 10 gram Microblimp gondola, you can have a full proportional RC airship with very small size.

There's a Blimp Builder CD ROM??? Really??? Where is that available at? I would like to see one of those. My brother wants a blimp capable of carrying his G.I.Joes. He's 42...but still a kid at heart!
