I am using a pair of walmart "flying eagle" gliders to make a twin boom cheapo fun thing. I have hacked the radio from a two engine vectored thrust toy. one motor on each boom. The question.... Should I point the motors slightly toward each other? away from each other? straight ahead? to help with its turning,

I am building a twin boom styrofoam glider (from the 6 dollar foam kits (Wallmart)). I am using the electronics from a vectored thrust two engine toy type plane. I will only be able to turn this thing using the different thrust L/R
controll. I want to give it all the help I can should I point the motors inward or outward or should I point them straight ahead.
Also I am using counter rotating motors and props. Should I have them turn center upward or center downward.
Thanks, My pilot skills are poor enough that trial and error should be avoided as much as possible

Hey local NorthWesterner!
If you want maxinum yaw control from differential thrust, then you will want to use spiral prop wash to your advantage. The plane you chose is a good one as it has little to no "sub rudder". Most of the vertical area is above the thrustline. As you look at the front of the airplane you want the left motor to turn counter clockwise and the right one to turn clockwise, just like a P-38 Lightning. If you want even more control, give the right motor left thrust and the left motor right thrust. To get it to climb with throttle use no down thrust or a little up thrust.
Good luck.

Sounds interesting, Eljimb0. Will the turning be a result of vectored thrust, or will the motors be stationary with ailerons and/or rudder to turn the plane? On my electric twins I mounted the motors straight with no problems.

I'm using differentiol thrust on the double eagle. I'm using the throwaway radio from a toy thing. It's being a pain to trim gliding it. Cant turn on the motors untill we are in the ball park. I have a big U2 from lanier with the same motors and R/E it is a blast. Love that slow fly-by with all that foam.
