What's a good choice for an electric helicopter?
Is one with collective pitch something to consider?
I would like to get one that can be upgraded as skills improve.
Would like at least 15 minutes flight time.
So far I have been reading online articles, and would like
some way to narrow down the ones to look at.Thanks.

Hi
If you are a beginner do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy a micro electric heli as
they are very hard to fly and it will only put you off.
An Ikarus ECO 8 is a good machine to start with as it is fairly well priced
and can be upgraded with excellent after market parts as well as being able
to upgrade it to an ECO 16 if you so desire.
Flight time can vary depending on the type of battery used. The ECO 8 hold
the world record for duration
http://www.fenella.net/records/
The Logo 10 is also a very good machine but more expensive than the ECO 8.
If it is a micro heli you are after there are so many on the market but a
good choice would be a Century Hummingbird or an Ikarus Piccolo Pro which
has collective pitch.

Appreciate the replies.
Have met an instructor locally, he has recommended gas.
So maybe I'll try gas first.
I'm looking at the Century Hawk $169.
And parts are in stock here, which is a plus.
As for radio, JR 8103, I can get for around $429 out the door.
4or 5 servos and receiver are included. Actually less than ebay,
and brand new.
Next on the list will be engine and gyro.
Maybe good to get one of those Co-pilots as well.
Since I'm a working stiff, I have to scrimp and save so at
least it gives me time to narrow down choices, which is a good thing I
guess.
Anticipation is half the fun, I think.
No reason to rush, always regret it later on it seems.

Joel,
Good choice. You may consider one of the new 7 channel radios (e.g. the
Futaba 7CH) that is very competent and will save you a fair bit of coin,
thus allowing you money for the gyro/engine.

Thanks for the input, Phil.
Went to look at the radio this week. That is some radio !
It does have a very good feel to it as well.
Another shop has it for $379 but charges $50 an hour for lessons,
so it will be better to stay with the local guy I guess,
spend a little more and get much more support.
I have looked at the smaller Raptor, the 30 v2, looks better than the
Century. Also there are alot of parts and pieces on ebay.
Maybe would be good to save a little more to get the Raptor.
Looked at engines too. The OS .37 with ring looks pretty nice.

I bought Esky. Not 3d. I have never flown anything before. I t is very very
very very hard to fly. I have had it thru 8 battery cycles and so far have
broke 2 tailrotor and one skid. Upside is rapair was only 12 bucks. Ur gonna
need a large space, like say a 2 car garage to learn.
