View Full Version : Kalt Whisper - parts?
The Observer

Where might I look for Whisper parts? Mine is 12 years old and flies
great after I rejuvenated it with a LiPo battery pack, but the gears are
badly worn, especially the 17T white plastic pinion gear.
Thanks.

If the motor shaft is a normal 540 size one (1/8 inch diameter) then just
pop to your local r/c car stockist and get a 17 tooth pinion, being Kyosho
it should be 48DP but you might want to double check that first.

And it being a Kalt, he might have trouble double checking with Kyosho :-))

Thanks Beavis,
but I thought the Kalt Whisper and the Concept EP (Kyosho) were the same
beast with different names? That's why I put it like that.

Where are you in the world?
In the UK have a look at
http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/acatalog/HeliSprs_KaltWhisper.html they
still have a few spares in stock.

Noooo, Kalt (who aren't in business anymore) made the Whisper, and Kyosho
(who still are, but who dropped he ball big time) made the Concepts. Easy to
get confused I suppose because there were only a couple of leccy heli's to
come out of Japan "back then".

Whisper was a better heli than the Concept EP. Put LiPos in it and it has quite a remarkable performance. Very light for its size (mine is 978 grams ready to fly and that's with an old heavy gyro), I get 10+ minute flights on a 2100 pack. Pity Kalt went oob. I still have one kit in the box for when my current one finally expires.

Thanks, all. I found lots of parts and made the (apparently
unobtainable) white pinion from a car part (it's not a regular shaft so
some serious modification was needed). Heli is flying like a charm on
LiPolys. All I need now is a brushless motor...
