I currently have an Airtronic Legend and I have been out of the r/c hobby for a few years, and I am looking for a winter project to get me back in.
I am interested in either the Sky Bird or Big Bird from Skybench, but I cannot decide between the two. My legend is 113" wing span, and I'm trying to get an idea of how big a 132" wing span is. Does anyone have any photos of either the Sky Bird, or Big Bird with someone holding it, so I can get an idea of their size? I'm thinking the Sky Bird might be a bit on the large size, hence my hesitation.
Also, if anyone has any input on building or flying either of these planes that would be a help as well..... ;)

I recommend you do a search right here on RCGroups.
I searched on "sky bird" and found lots of hits including this one (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191620) which contains 88 posts, with lots of photos.
Also, the Skybench Web Site's RES Bird Series Pages (http://www.skybench.com/slbird.html) show many photos of people holding their birds.
Happy Flying ;-)

Thanks for the reply webguyjv.
I found the thread you posted above prior to asking the question, but unfortunately the post doesn't show any pictures of the plane with anyone in it to give an idea of the scale. Also, Skybenches web site only has two pictures of the Sky Bird and they are just pictures of the plane by themselves.
I'll keep searching....... :)

Thanks gdjsky01.
I figured that the Sky Bird would be a tad on the large size for the project I wanted, so I'm building the Big Bird instead. By the look of the pictures from your link above, I think I made the right choice.. :)

Maybe this pic of a Sky Bench helper with Sky Bird wings will help set the perspective of man to Sky Bird size. Ray Hayes http://www.skybench.com

I think the Big Bird was the right choice for me.
When you are finished with the Big Bird, and still have more winter left, which you will, build the Sky Bird too. It is a big kitty kat in the air. Great flying plane, as are the other Skybench birds. You will love the Big Bird. My favorite planes. :D Bill G.

Hey Ray...just think: In 23 years or so, we'll be able to fly Sky Birds in nostalgia!
