:) I am planning new standard class model, the budget is less than $200, and thinking to buy an Arthobby Themic 2.5M or other kit to build it myself. I've expirence building and flying hlg and 2M model, want to get a better performance one.
Thanks a lot for any sugesstion!

Here are a few to consider
Spirit 100 - RES or full house

SIG Riser 100 - Excellent reputation

Few standard contests. Most open contests for smaller planes. More for 90% skill, less for 10% equipment!!! Any equipment contest worries for high skilled pilots!!

Hi Thomas
You might also look at WWW.SKYBENCH.COM "Big Bird" Big Bird is $119.00 :) :) and should fit your needs nicely. It's a nice modern 3 function glider rudder, elevator & spoilers and if your good a modifying you can make it with flaps. It has the SD3014 :) airfoil which penetrates unballasted very well and when the wind kicks up between 20-25kts install ballast and keep flying....And also if your really want to build look at the 132 inch Sky Bird same aircraft as the Big bird just more wing span and $$$$$....With these and a lot of practice you can compete with most anything out there and be competive....What ever your choice practice and more practice......

Dear All,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I'm considering a new model can fly well in my field, you can see it in attached pics.
This is a withered river bed, it is open but offten some big wind, sometimes I feel difficult to control the small model that you can find in the photos, I think maybe large wing span and more weight can bring me better flying performance, I also want to know if the model with aileron performance well than only with rudder, special in control ability.
Thanks!

Looks like a great field for flying. Is your hi-start strong enough for a 100 inch plane?
Have you been getting strong thermals or light lift?
How strong are the winds that you say are common over this field?

I have no machine to test the wind speed, but last week a 1.5M 360g model can not go ahead direct to the wind, I have to pull the elevator to give the model some speed to move, but it is difficult to control. I have expirence to soaring with thermal in this field, same model fly about 1 hour last month using a 30 meters hi-start launch, below you can find some other pics I was using a hi-start launching, I'm going to building my new heavy duty hi-start, it is easy to find rubber tub here.

In stronger winds, I add weight to my Spirit, ballast, which increases the wing loading, allowing the plane to fly faster and give it better penetration. Try adding 5-15% of the model's weight in some ballast weight and try that in the wind. I am sure you will have much greater success.

Hi Thomas, nice field lots of tall grass to land in. the Sky Bench Big Bird 100 inch, has a selig Donovan SD3014 airfoil, You fly this in any condition you want to. It carries weight (Ballast) really well. On light lift days you can fly it without any ballast and will float well, However put the nose down will speed up and penetrate really well. This airfoil has been used on heavy ballasted slope racers, it works. On the other hand when the winds picks up 15-??? install some ballast and fly as ususal. I know the Big Bird is a 3 channel bird but you can modify the wings and install Ailerons and flaps. You will have to decrease the decalage some. Good Luck and chuck one for me.....

WOW!!cool as!! You betta get the most out of it before the nxt oympics hehe :p where will you fly when they finnish construction?? !!
You have some nice planes there did u buy them over the internet or locally...are R/C products cheap there?? and how much is rubber tubing?? i would expect it would be cheap there? ...the reason i ask this is that my dad is going over for a bussiness trip...so if stuff are cheap there i could ask him to bring some back for me!! :D!!
Okay....sorry for going off topic for a little....but for a high performance plane, i would would look into the spirit 100 also (for your wingspan requirement)....however if money was on your side then you could get a composit full house ship...OR if you could go for the bird of time (that is if you a looking for a looker) heard great things about both the dynaflite and skybench versions, theres also a couple of thread that you could folow about the structual mods that could be done for a bird of time!!
Happy Flyin!!
Thx for the pics!!!

Thomas:
The Art Hobby Thermic is well suited to what you want to do. You can get aileron/flap version as well as poly version. Also available with V-tail or standard tail. Good quality planes for the money.
If you have to deal with fairly windy conditions, you should probably consider the aileron/flap version for better control.
I'd say "go for it".

I as well have a Spirit 100 i just add ballast on days with a lot of wind. Here in Oklahoma, USA it seems like we have wind every day. Good Luck

thanks for all your suggestion. I'll consider all them.
Hi silentfly,
I buy the model in Beijing, it's a 1.5M small one, about $50, most gas power and Electric power glider here, but few pure sailplane model, yes they are cheap, a 60 class acrobatic model less than $100.
I buy the rubber tub from medicine shop, for 5*3, about $0.4 per meter, for 7*5, about $0.6 per meter, but it is not long enough, the longest one I got is about 20 meters, usually 7-10 meter.
Thanks and regards,
Thomas
