RES Flying site in/near Galveston Tx?

I'm taking a break and renting a house on the beach in Galveston, TX. Are there any sailplane flying sites in or near Galveston? I might try the beach but I'm not sure about using a hi-start or up-start there. I was planning on going to Douphin Island, AL, and flying with a friend in Mobile but the hurricane blew the house away on the island (along with many, many others) Thanks for your help.

The Houston Hawks would love to have you come fly with us. Our field is 61.3 miles from Galveston (according to Map Quest) or about 1 hour from Galveston. Our new field is north of Crosby, Texas on the East side of Texas Hiway 2100. We have just moved to a new flying field which is on a Grass Farm. The site is absolutely lovely. The whole place is a clipped lawn 1/4" high.
If you will send me a personal message I will send maps and detailed instructions. We have even trapped one our your countrymen who claims he will return some day to Surrey. We think he likes the heat and humidity too much to actually do that, however.
It will be a great opportunity to get some stick time on a Houston Hawk.
