Anyone who flys in the DFW area, particularly up north near Lewisville, Flower Mound, gets to do a lot of driving to find a proper field.

I use several local fields for handlaunch, but this time of year brings either knee high weeks and burrs with fire ants, or armies of little soccer players scampering around during prime lift hours!

So I've been eyeing the giant field on SW corner of FM407 and 35E. It's wide open, easily as big as local contest/club fields, 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile of open area.

This morning I thought swing by and sure enough there were a few parkflyers there. Freshly cut, several paved parking spots and the no obstacles on the field. It looks very promising!

I'll drag out the highstart next week, and maybe con one of the local guys with the winch to show up :)

If anyone wan'ts to fly, drop me a PM!

Hey there, i live just north of there in corinth. I'm usually flying here behind my house or at the huge soccer feild on corinth parkway. I've only been flying for a few months with a PZ cub, stryker, and now a whisper 1400 that i got at mike's. Can ya list some good areas to go fly? i've been helping some other friends out and the local parks in carrollton jsut don't cut it. Maybe we will run into each other sometime.

Tom, the field I describe above is the best field I've found. It's huge, heading south on 35 as you pass under 407 look right ...HUGE field.

I'll be tossing my handlaunch Saturday afternoon, later after 2:00 or so. Drop me a PM if you want to fly some time

Where exactly is this field in relaton to TCU? I am currently a student at TCU and have had NO luck in finding a good sized field. In fact, I lost the parachute on my NESail Highstart yesterday trying to fly in a field too small. Got it stuck in a tree. I am trying to find a place that is somewhat close as I am busy with Engineering and ROTC. If you all are going to be out there this weekend, I might show up if somebody could bring ahighstart (or I will try to jury rigg a chute and a hook)!!! Thanks for any help. I know NOBODY who is into RC Gliders (only gas planes around here) and I am looking for somebody to fly with! Thanks for any help!

FYI, my daughter lives in Euless and I drive 121 towards McKinney. There is a lot of area under road construction with no busines around. It might be worth the drive.

They also support a group in Ft. Worth - trailer mounted winch and retriever - and there is a great group that flies there. Check 'em out!!

Norad,

A great group of guys often flies next to the main fire station in N. Richland Hills. Austintatious is on this forum a lot and he is tied well into that. Very nice guy and great model pilot. I make it up there often as I can.

I live in Arlington and found a great field at Pioneer Parkway and Green Oaks West. Not more than 15 miles from TCU. It is huge, mowed and easy to reach. I think some of the NRH guys could be tempted to try it some time too.

I'm flying hand launch to 2m.
Send me an email or PM some time. I can fly most weekends.

Any of you Fort Worth area guys that have thought about flying at Pioneer Parkway and GreenOaks in Arlington - DO NOT PARK THERE!

I got jacked up by a tow truck hired by the property owner. Cost a hundred bucks to get it down. If I'd hesitated any longer running back to my car as it was being lifted (and I finally realized the truck driver was not fixin to pull a glider out of his truck), it would have been much more. Oh the pain!!!

Moving to Veterans Park - north end. Very good field.
