Well, here is a history of my short lived Groove. Amazing build, great looking, flys even better - untill the 7th flight...

I was enjoying a perfectly good flight when I decided I would land and check temperatures (it is hot here in AZ). I started the landing pattern about 200 feet up and ~90 yards out when the plane banked directly away from me and beginning to speed up while increasing its altitude. I tried in vain to correct its course but I watched the beautiful plane get small and disappear behind some apartments.

A fellow flyer and I quickly got in our trucks to go search for it. Upon reaching the scene we found it in the empty spot between two cars, with neither of them damaged. So in that respect I was lucky.

Another person who was flying about 40 yards closer to the crash site said he heard it hit hard, and I believe it from what is left.

The battery is done; the can on the AXI has a small dent, but luckily along with the speed control, is still functional. I was flying with a Berg 5 DSP that I believe to be the cause - it has seen a few crashes in its life time.

Oh well, guess I get to build a new one now.

Oh Ryan that sucks! I'd love to try to make you feel better by saying that looks fixable but I can't. It looks like a goner. That a shame, it was a great looking bird. A lot of people swear by the Berg RX's but I'm just not sold. I've seen too many sudden loss of control situations with Berg RX's on board. I'll stick with my Electron 6's. How badly is the battery pack damaged?

I don't think there is any chance in hell of putting it back together, I didn't even grab some of the smaller chunks. It would save me time (money) to just build a new kit.

Battery has a 45% degree bend on all 3 cells in one corner. I wouldn't feel safe charging it. I'm glad TP has a 50% replacement policy.

As far as the bergs go - It's a great receiver, but it is the one I learned to fly with. It hit the ground quite a few times in my slowstick. Next time I will spend the extra $60 and buy new seperate receivers for planes like the Groove.

Now I'm tempted to put the 2808/20 in the Switchback. On 3s it would go to the moon.
But I think I will still stick to my previous plan.

Ryan,

Tell me about the 50% replacement policy. I checked the T.P. site and didn't see anything. I have a pack that got kinda smooshed in the MiniBOP. I've used it at least 10 times since with no problems but if I can use the pack to trade up to the Gen2's that would be awesome.

Man, that setup in a Switchback would be awesome!

Save the tail and make a plaque out of it like somebody did with the back end of an Extra 300. I think I'd just take myself out back and shoot myself.

Call them up and they will ask you to send it back or send them a picture if it has been punctured. I sent them a 1st gen 1900 I smashed up and they sent me a second gen for a tad over 50% with shipping. I have another pack to send them now. Don't try email, they will just respond saying they don't do customer support over email anymore. Which is odd.

Oh, it has to be within 90 days of purchase as well.

Yeah, it would be a crazy switchback. *grin*

Well that leaves me out. Mine are way over 90 days old. :(

After looking at the right wing, or whats not left of it I think it actualy hit the roof of the car cover on the way down and then the rest nosed in on the asphalt.

Oh No! I'm sorry to see this Ryan... She was a Beauty in her time, but you've had your share of difficulties with this build. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be...

I think your crash assesment is probably correct - wish I'd been there this morning to help the investigation.

Yeah. Don't know why I ran into so many problems with it. Maybe the wood was cursed.

Do you guys want a tail to mount to the ceiling? =)
