Well i was doing loops and other stuff, and after one loop, the battery didnt have enough power to stop the decent, and it hit tail first and did quite a bit of damage to the tail.

I do consider my self very lucky though, several things happend though that prevented the heli from completly destoying itself, such as the battery was thrown free, thus stopping the motor. And the tail rotor belt ripped free, tangled in the main rotors, and stopping them.

Anyway, here's some pictures.

You will learn to hit the throttle hold button. If you loose the tail or know you are going to crash, roll over, flip the switch or watch your heli beat itself to pieces.

Actually i was flying my SS all day, so when the heli was about to crash i lowered the collective instinctively, to turn the motor off. But it just made the problem worse, cause it drove the heli into the ground.

The battery was thrown almost instantly,so the blades never got a chance to hit anything.

Thanks for the advice though.

Ok, so you are not in idle up? Is this a fixed pitched heli or were you in normal mode?

i was in idle up. Because i would close the throttle when my plane went down, i instinctively thought closing the throttle would shut the heli down, but all it did was lower the pitch, causing the heli to hit harder. I never even though of the throttle hold switch.

Yeah its instinct when you get into trouble to dump the throttle. On helis though its always a bad idea unless its geting ready to hit soemone or you. Or maybe the side of a brick house or car!!! I had one of those little things where you can turn a dial, press it and make words .Dont know what its called? Anyways, I put HOLD and stuck it on the transmitter right below the switch. Most of these lighter helis, if you hit hold, the heli will drop but damage is usually light and you maintain some control.

I know what your talking about, dont know what it's called though. But i dont think i would have time to look down at the TX. i think it's gotta be insticntive. Actually if i hit hold on my heli, and give full collective it a goes up!! Until the HS falls, then so does the heli.
