Posted about this in threads elsewhere, but thought I'd give the new Vulture's Row its due. Popped an AXI 2212/20 and a TP Gen II 2100 3s into a Wattage Eindecker I got on sale. A little over a pound of thrust. Fantastic flyer and looked really cool in the air. Could fly it scale or really zip--and very quiet. Got a little too agressive on the sticks yesterday and snapped the left wing off. Fuselage and remaining wing augered nicely from 100 ft as the free wing pirouetted to earth. Axi, ESC and servos intact. Had to neutralize and [inappropriate language removed by moderator] the LiPo since it was "compromised." Ouch. A mighty fine looking crash though!

Oohh messy! :o

Now I'm no expert but I would say with a bit of TLC that could be flying again in a few days - is that what you're planning to do?

Bummer about the LiPo though! Probably the single most expensive part of the plane! Still, at least the rest of the gear survived intact. Could've been worse! ;)

Nasty midair loss of integrity, aye! One of them did Boelcke in, too! I hope your pilot at least managed to parachute out safely, can't see his "body" among the pieces of the wreckage... :p

Unforunately I don't have the patience or the heart to fix it. Since it was an ARF, I don't have the plans to easily recreate the broken pieces. I stripped off the tail feathers, pushrods, LG, etc. and tossed the rest. When I get another WWI plane, I will definitely build it myself, and fly it more like it was meant to fly. I'm definitely more bummed about the LiPo. That plane was a real LiPo killer in a crash, built Detroit-iron style like the bulgemobiles of the '50's: No crumple zones to protect precious cargo, hehe. Too bad the wings were not constructed in a similar fashion.
