I'we had some serious range problems with my Futaba 9C, and after demolishing 3 other aircrafts I got the radio fixed, bought a new SIG Rascal Forty and a new rx...
The first 2 flights were very good, the third time, the Rascal just didn't recieve my signals any more and hit the ground...
Spent 3 weeks repairing and got it all back to former glory...
To be safe this time, I took a full range-check and all was fine...
After take off, I banked the plane to the right and.... *pooof!*... No response from the bird....!!!
Well.. Here's the result...
Now my 9C is out of service for good and a new MPX EVO9 is in the house...
Haven't had a problem since...

Woh-ho!! That was a nasty crash!
Was that plane built from plans?
Sorry to hear of the loss of such a beautiful model .... I'm even more sorry to hear that it was caused by your FF9 .... I've got one! :o

Hi!
The plane is an ARTF from SIG.. Rascal Forty.. (Also avaliable as kits.. )
The few times it flew it was the most enjoying plane I'we ever flown..
Does knife-edges, knife-edge loops, etc.. And stable as a horse ( :D )..
I'm too sorry about the 9C, I really loved that radio...
But it's like being cheated by women.. U can't ever thrust them anymore! :p

My Dad had built a large Taube, put a Futaba radio in it- it crashed after take off every time. After totalling the plane, he sent the reciever back to them and they found that part of the antenna wiring on the circuit board was not soldered!
This is not the only time- I have had friends with simmilar problems. I only use JR products now......

I'm a little concerned about Futaba's quality, also. I just bought a new 7C from a dealer on ebay, and when I plugged in the trainer cord, it was usually working, but if you moved the cord around, it would cut out. I thought it was the cable, as I had closed the car door on it, but when I plugged the radio into my Real Flight interface, it did it there as well.
I opened up the radio and checked the connector, and two of the pins had cold solder joints on them.

Yeh, Futaba's are horrible. :) I still love them and will only fly Futaba.. Only radio I've ever owned..
These stories of horror crack me up.. A friend of mine has had 2 JR radio's and both have killed quarter scale and up airplanes..
JR is everybit as good as Futaba and vice versa.. Sometimes, you just get a bad one..

Kind of like the ford/chevy/dodge conspiracy, isn't it.

Since I've fixed the bad solder (as an electronics tech, I see this often) I haven't had any issues with the Futaba. I will admit that right now I'm using it as my buddy box...amazing to see a 7C used that way, but it works! Later on, I'll switch the receive crystal in the radio, and it'll be my main radio...but it's running like a charm right now. Very happy with it.

(FORD) Fix Or Repair Daily... "It ain't a Ford commerical unless there's a hillbilly playing a guitar in it" ...drifting off the subject..
There is at least one bad apple in every bunch. JR or Futaba, i've had both and so far....knock on wood, no problems. But everyone has a favorite and will trash the opposer. No one will ever win an arguement between which is better.... recievers, automobiles, teams...blah blah blah..
