My son and I just completed the maiden voyage of our Mosquito, an electric boat made from balsa. My father in law made the hull, and I installed the drive system and electronics. The plan (#1326) is available from R/C Modeler (RCM) Magazine (www.rcmmagazine.com). It is approximately 21 inches long ,and it is powered by a direct drive 540 size can motor. The boat appeared in the August 2003 issue of RCM. I used an 8 cell NiCd battery from my sons electric car and Jeti 30 Amp ESC from Hobby Lobby.
This is our first RC boat (I fly planes), and my son and I had a blast on the maiden voyage. It rides very nice on top of the water, is fast, and also very agile. I highly recommend spending the $7.00 for the plan.
