This figures. FedEx just delivered my brand new TC3 yesterday. It looks
like there are quite a few design modifications in this new one, although
nothing worth immediately upgrading.

Not trying to be a jerk, but if you had shopped at a hobby shop they
might have told you the TC4 was on the way.

Mine didn't. I found out from WildHobbies.com . . .

the day before the Team Associated newsletter came out with it.

Well a new chasis means not always better. I remeber the HPI pro2 and the
new HPI pro3
None of my club members liked the new pro3. they all where changed to the
TC3 or back to the old pro2.

While I understand supporting your LHS, many of them would just try to
sell the remaining stock of the older model. It seems there aren't many of
the good old fashioned locally owned stores left. The chain stores often
don't have the same idea of serving their customers. Sounds like you have a
good one.

Yeah I do use a great one. AS an indicator, they keep three fulltime
employees behind just the RC counters, not including the rest of the
store.

It may not in the best interest of the LHS to reveal the arrival of a
widget when he has three previous versions sitting on the shelf (which
he has already paid the distributor for).

True, & from what I've heard, it may not yet be a quicker car than its
predeccessor. One of my aquaintences has been talking to some AE
factory drivers recently, & while they confirmed that the TC4 is about
ready to hit the shelves, they're not sure if they'll be using it at
the IFMAR Worlds. At least one driver I know of has not gotten the
kind of lap times with it as he has with his TC3's yet, so for the
moment he's planning to run the TC3 at the Worlds(though if he finds
something between now & then, that could change). It's not a big
difference(something like a 1/10 of a sec. per lap or so), but at the
Worlds, I can see wanting to save EVERY little 1/10 posible.....

My local hobby shop is a national chain with online mail order service.
They aggressively compete with Tower.

There is an "old school" hobby shop near me, but it's 40 minutes away. I go
there sometimes because they have items that can't be found at chains. They
are able to survive because they have a huge hobby shop and also a permanent
huge 1/8 scale dirt track. I assume they split the proceeds with the church
where the track resides so that they aren't paying rent for the space. Rent
for the square footage is what I have seen kill nearly every permanent
track. Expenses exceed income, etc.

Either way, I'm glad to see the "tower vs local hobby shop" bickering is
still going strong! I have always been fascinated by this thread over the
years.
