Not my bandit but my buddies.. He wanted to do ONE LAST FLIGHT tonight.. His FAUP 1950 pack hadn't peaked yet and we calculated about 2 climbs were available.. He got the two climbs no problem but ended up a little low and short for landing, he had the runway made but added spoilers and tried to stretch out the glide just a little...... fatal mistake.... Result? the wing stalled and she augered in hard... Wing tip damage, broken prop blade, crushed spinner and that's just the initial inspection.. "never try to get that one last flight"... naw, with that attitude you'd never fly the FIRST flight , LOL... Oh well, at least it's repairable.

And what is the reason so many people continue to buy the Bandit when the Filip RG beats it in all fronts? It must be the cooler name........

Can a filip withstand an eggbeater w/ an 80mph entry speed? would you even try it?

what is an "egg beater" (in regard to gliders)?

Since when did adding spoilers extend the glide

Yes, and the Filip can do it better because of a rudder that the Bandit does not have. I believe an "eggbeater" is tic's term for a series of positive snap rolls in the vertical axis (going up or down). If negative, they would be a Lomcevok. Wait, a Bandit can not do a Lomcevok as it needs a rudder for any forward tumbling maneuvers..........

However, a google search reveals the following:

Synchronized swimming is basically making different shapes and motions with your body to create formations as a group. Swimmers use the eagbeater kick to keep their upper half above water and creates the illusion that they are standing on the bottom, although the floor is 12 feet below. The eggbeater kick is similar to sitting in a chair and moving your legs (from the knee down) in circular motions, like an eggbeater.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Keep doing those eggbeaters, tic.

Please don't make fun of synchronized swimmers.. They are the brunt of far too many a joke... Heather; he added spoilerons then realized he'd be a little short so he brought the nose up a little.. I've done this without even realizing it. I think most of us have; you unconsciously add a little back pressure and get bit; and/or overestimate your airpseed. The eggbeater is indeed a poor mans snap roll (no rudder). I have done these at ridiculous entry speeds with the FVK bandit and no ill effects

He's right about one thing, Tic. Bandit is a cooler name than Filip.

Landing was from opposite direction today or he WOULD have hit the pear tree.... but that was a good dig dingo :)

The Bandit tip stall club is always gaining new members , but its a club I don`t want to join . I could avoid it by buying a " Filip " but I don`t like the name .

A friend of mine calls my Bandit the CAT because he reckons its got nine lives . Not so much from tip stalls , but things like the bec cutting in & landing out of site , a few very close calls with a dicky elevator servo , a few less than perfect landings on slopes with visous winds & very little landing space . I actually put the new elevator servo & reciever in last night . I haven`t put a scratch on the plane yet , trouble is I can`t remember how many lives its lost . Is it 7 or 8 ?

Do a search for Bandit... you will find all the material you need to populate the Crash forum...

Dang it, keep the compare and contrast to the other forums.
This is for how it got broke, how bad it got broke (ah yes, the carnage photos), and why it got broke (glitched, another plane hit it, a hawk tried to mate with it, tree jumped up and grabbed it, concrete and airframes don't mix) and so forth.
I was all excited to read this one and then it became, well my plane is better than your plane....

by the way, there's a thread about a bandit going in at 100 mph in the foamies forum-thing was snapped in two. I want one of these real bad.

Dang it, keep the compare and contrast to the other forums. Now that really makes me see red! This thread was started by Tic in the High Performance forum and then moved here to Crash Discussion by moderator GregC. That was wrong and I protested it in "Moderators - Don't move threads here! (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270851)".

Now you have the nerve to tell folks that their comments in this thread are in the wrong forum?

what is an "egg beater" (in regard to gliders)?

Egg beater is more commonly called "blenders" and are extremely stressful. And, related to gliders, it doesn't. You need large control surfaces and throws.

Viper

PS Take your plane up about 500 feet or more, go into a powered dive, and then immediately perform a series of flat spins. The faster the dive the more dramatic the "blender".

Right on Mike!!! I am going to the other thread to join the protest...

By the logic used to place this thread 65% of the thread would end up here...
