View Full Version : How far back can we go????

I went to add something to a thread that was active some months ago and could not find it. Searching in the forum where it was turned up nothing and a broader search only gave results back to the early part of this year - on a plane I know has been discussed heavily longer than that.

Is some of that good information from more than a few months ago now lost??!?

Added later: I managed to find the thread I was looking for by simply having the forum posts shown "from the beginning". In this case it wasn't that huge (waterplanes).

Perhaps there's some search function issue. One would think one could find a thread called "Dandy Sport on Floats" in the Waterplanes forum by searching on "dandy sport" in the Waterplanes forum. Nope. Trying just "dandy" doesn't work either. And doing a general search on "dandy sport" only brings posts that are from this year. What I was looking for (and finally found) was posted last August.

Don't tell me the search functions are case sensitive.......

Funny. If you select "Search Titles Only" if find two threads. If you leave the default selection to "Search Posts Text Only" I only find one.

At least it seems to be working now. I did use lower case in my search.

Search can be fussy about exactly how you enter the terms and which options you select. That's what makes the 60-second wait between searches so darned annoying. I use search mainly to find answers to people looking for help. If it takes too many tries to find results, sometimes I just give up due to having to wait a full minute between searches. That's the main problem I see with the "crippled" search.

I pointed out that the search function was missing threads some time ago. Then, the threads I were looking for magically now were found. I know for a fact, however, that it simply does not find certain posts or threads at different times.
