I bought a Zagi XT during my vacation in the USA and took it with me back to Austria. The wing and all the electric components made it safely back home without any damage. I am VERY glad! Getting spare parts here from Trick RC products is near impossible, or costly (200 dollars and up for shipping).
Anyway, I managed to get the recommended 3M Super 77 spray adhesive from a drugstore in the USA, called "Longs Drugs". I even got the LAST non-acetone based spray!!! So, I got one of those rare black-cans..
The problem was, that the security-guys at the airport check the checked baggage now after 9/11, and they wouldn't let me take the spray with me :( Even though it's not even more dangerous than an ordinary hairspray!!
Alright, no arguing helped, I just had to leave it at the airport- what alternatives did I have? Yeah, don't fly :)
So, what adhesives do you use to glue your wings together? You are also supposed to slightly cover the wings before covering them. With what do you do all these things???
Thanks a lot to everybody! I now have a Zagi that I cannot put together because I have no glue! What a ridiculous reason, and I have that itch in my figners to fly and build something :D YOu know what I mean :)
Thanks again!

can you have some 77 shipped to you from the UK or Germany? shipping shouldn't be as bad from there. You could use a polyurethane glue to bond the wings, or even epoxy, but I can't think of anything else that will get a covering material to stick to EPP foam. I could send you a couple cans (might get through), but I live in Hawaii, which is about exactly the other side of the planet. $$$ for shipping.

i think the reason they dont let u take the spray on board as it can be dangerous the pressure could be released than the can can be cut into a dangerous object over here in australia we have to agree our parcels have no explosives ie aerosol cans, fire crackers, bulltes etc... have u ever heard a aerosol can explode? i can tell u now its alot louder than a fire cracker you shouldnt have been so suprised that they took it off you...
ok now back on track just go buy any spray adhesive it all works the same if it has "acetone" in it just spray it from 3 feet from the parts to be sprayed
let us know how u go

I surely can have some mailed from the UK; or from Germany- Germany is around the corner, shipping would be maybe even free when I order at a big store.
Anyway, does the 77 Spray dissolve foam with the acetone? When I keep the can 3 feet away it won't dissolve? The only fear I have is that I spray on the wing, and the EPP gets dissolved..
@Flyin hawaiian: I bought the Zagi actually in Hawaii! That was were I was on vacation! I was on Oahu, and I got it from "Hobbietat". If you also live on Oahu I think you will know that store *g* there are not many alternatives. If you stop by, please send them my best regards, they should remember me if you talk about the "Zagi zwin" guy from Austria. Thanks for offering me your help! They should get through, but it's the shipping cost I don't like, but I should be able to get those standard 3M sprays here as well..
Thanks for your help, I will open up a new thread with my building report and first flight report :-)
Have great flying days!

Surely you have spray adhesives in Austria??? Your Zagi XT is made from EPP which is not effected by the small amount of acetone in 3M77 -- It should not be effected in other brands of spray adhesive you may find there either.
Good luck.

Jutti,
You dont need to worry about the acetone in the 3m77 with the Zagi XT ONLY. The XT is made from epp and the new formula works fine. Trickrc says " 3m#77 will not disolve epp foam when sprayed with a heavy coat or at close range". So dont sweat the new formula.
Personal experiance with building several XTs has shown this to be true. NOTE: 3m77 will eat the "beer cooler " eps type foam like a pub buddy on the pretzels! So be carefull with any other type foam.
Try an art store for spray adhesive. I have bought several cans at the art store around the corner so that may be a good source for you.
BTW I joined my wings with epoxy but still used the 77 for the wings before I ultra coated them. It really helps the coating stay stuck the the airfoil shape.

Oh my....... I said I have built several xts....... Not true. I meant several XSs. Both are epp wings though and the manual I referenced for the 3M77 and epp foam compatability was the XT manual from trick rc's webpage. So the information is still acurate.

Thanks all for your help!
I will use #77...
But if the foam dissolves, beware, escape from your house, fake your own death, move to another country, just don't meet me... You know, your IP has been logged :D
No, just kidding, LOL.. You know the horror in watching foam being eaten by the adhesive..
Thanks again! I will post pictures and a building as well as a first flight report here as soon as I did it!
Thanks,
Thomas

Don't worry, Jutti. I used 77 on my XS which is also EPP and there was no foam melting. It works fine. Have fun building!
