Hi all, Please goto www.brainlubeonline.com and click on "ALX-1 SUPER
RC CAR" link and look at my invention.
This car should go well over 120MPH!!!
I would love to hear questions, comments, suggestions, ect.
Thanks,
AM

It's impressive. It appears you're using some plastic gears.
If there's no slippage, I reckon the tyres would have to
rotate at 1345 rpm to achieve 120 mph. If the battery is
3300 mAh at 7.2 volts (or about 24 watt-hour), then would it
be enough to accelerate the vehicle to about that speed and
perhaps run it for 30 seconds?

Are you crazy? Running an rc car at 120mph for 30 secs would have the car
exactly one mile away without any acceleration distance taken into account!
No, the batteries only need to be sufficient to hold the car at that speed
for long enough to catch the reading on radar or use some other reliable
method of speed measurement.

I will admit that one would have to be crazy to try this on a straight-away,
as the vehicle will be out of sight (and possibly out of transmitter
range) before it reaches 120 mph. Obviously he has to do this on
a circular or oval track, so he may as well see how long it can run
at that speed. My guess is that it will take 10 seconds to reach
the speed, then the vehicle will start slowing down 20 seconds after that.

I doubt it! gearing looked stock and single speed. What is your gear
ratio?
The car also looks like its only setup for 6-7 cells also.
Most electric "drag cars" are set up with 10 or more cells.that car
just looks like a stock shumaker or something with some graphie parts?
I have a recent post "WHAT? Happened in rec.models.rc.land ?" see the
post.
I have a draster than can reach 114 and its got tall gearing. Read my
post and see the link on the story behind what it takes to be in the
100+ club.

Close, but not right. It is highly unlikely to use only 6 cells for that kind
of run. Look at closer to 18 cells (~21.6V). That will reduce the capacity and
current demands quite a bit.

Plus he's using brushed motors. All the new records in all forms of r/c
are held by brushless motors!
