That's simply not true, Mike. Individual or parallel cell charging is as least as safe, and less expensive than balancers.
Will you also offer retail dealers individual cells and Xp packs?

Not sure on xP packs. i think it should not be a problem.
We ofcourse offer loose cells to dealers that want them. But our pack pricing is going to be hard to beat..
The charge guard we will offer will be very inexpensive and should offer simple protection. i will have more details soon on that.
We want to keep things simple and affordable for all.
plus some neat new cells are coming soon..

That's good news, Mike
As more experience is gained with LiPos as they age, and as used in our in crash-prone environment, I am convinced by my own experiments that the safest way to apply them long-term will prove to be to maintain the cells individually, not in packs.
Time will tell. Meanwhile, my only concern is the continued availability of Xp packs and individual cells.
We will never know if I'm right or wrong long-term, if there does not continue to be an "installed base" of individual cells against which the performance of series-charged packs can be compared. So far, I know of no LiPo battery catching fire while undergoing parallel or individual-cell charging.
Ezoners deserve recognition, which they don't get from bastions of conventional wisdom, e.g., the AMA, re the fact that some of the best practical LiPo applications development has occurred right here on ezone.

Mike, as a recent consumer of your packs I do not see any taps nor any mention of them on your website. Is this an option only for resellers?

I have been searching this thread for info on NEW LIPO cells that come with two sets of leads. One for discharging and one for charging.
I heard about these cells at our flying field on Sat 8/21/04.
So where are they---just a rumor???

the new factory made packs that we will be carrying next month will have a regular speed controller lead and a special port (Tap) that can be used with the optional safety charge guard. This tap can also be used to take voltage measurments of the internal cells in the pack.
all the 1800-3100mah sized packs we will carry will be made up of the new narrow style cells too !!
we will be offering the charge guard at a low price as safety if more important then profit on this item.

Mike, narrow cells are good news, taps and charge protectors too.
Now to complete the product line you should offer more chargers;)

I think its difficult to make packs with deans micro, since everyone has different idea which one is positive;)

Mike, Are they going to be "safety circuits" or "balancers"??
There is a big difference.
I like the direction you are going tho.

Second what Hovertime said - I've fried one (or two?) ESCs by hooking up factory packs with pre-installed connectors and found that said factory had a different polarity than I was using.

The micro-deans plugs are a "no brainer" if you read the instructions on the package that tells you that the male prong is soldered to the positive lead on the battery and vise-versa on the esc end. I think these new batteries will be a great seller with the battery taps on them.
