As I posted in the GWS area, I have just flown my first (succesfull as well :D ) solo with my GWS Cub, but I want to practise and learn as often as possible.

Soooo, what sim for the computer would you guys recommend? I have borrowed one from a friend but it won't run on my computer :( it is called 'Easy Fly' and it won't find the cable to the TX.

In order to give you an idea of what I have so you can perhaps recommend one, here is what I have.

Transmitter: JR XP652

Computer : various, all on XP

Based: England

I just want something I can load, plug in the cable to the TX and go flying, it sems a much cheaper way learn ailerons that whacking real planes into the deck !

Thanks in advance

Alex

FMS is great becausei it's free.
You need to buy or make a cable for TX though.
I got a cable from here and it works great.

I bought Reflex XTR and i like it. I tried FMS but it didn't feel realistic. FMS is is free though.

Other sims:
- Aerofly Pro
- Realflight G2

When you download the free FMS be sure to note that the newest version of FMS is more realistic (you can program wind speed and direction etc.) but most of the model planes that are available on the internet (also free) are not compatible with the newest version of FMS (hopefully as time passes, this will be less of an issue).

I know from experience that both FMS and Reflex XTR work with Windows XP. And i'm pretty sure AFP and G2 work with XP aswell.

This subject is even better covered in the Simulators forum. That's where we'll go with this one. :)

The latest version 2 alpha 8.3 allows flying with both old and new versions of models. In order to have better flight physics and wind however, you'll need alpha 8.3 .par files for the models. That's the only part that is changed in between model versions. The new .par file however is much more involved and a bit more complex than the beta 7 .par files.

Check out the FMS alpha 8 download section of http://www.rc-sim.de

Nice! I never knew about FMS seems like a good program for freeware. :)

Is there a Thunder Tiger Windstar glider you can download?
