View Full Version : A little research, do you want Obechi veneer foam wings?

Hi,
I am considering making Obechi veneered foam wings available here in the USA. I lived in England until 18 months ago and have made many hundreds of what you might call 'European Style' foam/veneer wings for electric, power and glider models.

I now have a source for obechi veneer here in America and although it is rather more expensive than in England I see no reason why I could not make wings here at a reasonable cost. I intend to make 'custom' wings to the customer's specification and 'generic' wings at a lower price... once a wing has been made as a 'custom' wing it will become a generic wing.

I have seen some terribly complicated pricing online for foam cores. I intend to use the same very simple system as I did in England, including 'custom' prices so you will not have to email or phone me to find out a price.

I will supply cores only, or quality veneered panels with veneer to veneer trailing edges if required.

In Europe the Obechi veneered wing is very much a standard kit feature and a common choice for scratch builders, but I know that they are less well known here, hence this question before I take the plunge...
Do you want them :)

I look forward to your thoughts...

Thanks for the reply 207... I am already cutting cores for the customer to skin in the usual way... just looking for enough interest to tell me whether to invest in an order of obechi or stay with just cutting cores.

I do understand that there is a lack of knowledge here in the US re. obechi veneer... I have had a lot of blank looks when I mention it locally!

I will have some web pages dedicated to foam cores within a day or three.
