just moved to the KC area (Olathe) to work at Castle Creations. I also fly gliders and my Aegea Mantis is crying out, "Fly Me ! !". I have heard there is a glider guider field in Gardner and was wondering if anyone will be there today with a winch?
If not I would appreciate contact from KC glider guiders.

Today, Sunday, most will be at 195 / Prospect at the aerotow / scale meet in Belton Mo. Check the KC soaring post, or under "events". My understanding is they usually fly on a sod farm on 175, just east of I 35. I have not been there myself, but it sounds nice. You might check on the evnt post, there are several peoples phone numbers listed there.
Thanks, and welcome to KC.

Ryan, thanks. do you have any info on the scale event today, especially where it is? I would like to go if it is not too long a drive (< 1.5 hr). Where is the KS soaring post?

Hopefully you found it. I was away from my computer all day, so sorry I didn't reply earlier. The details are on teh bottom of the second page of the "events" forum. I think it says "KC Scale Aerotow" or similar.

Well you both found us and we are glad you came. The weather was awesome both yesterday and today and with more than twenty flyers and more sailplanes we had a great turnout and a great event!
Seeing scale ships with 8 to 16 foot spans arching up behind Jim Frickie's big Cub was excellent but seeing four or five ships specing out in a huge thermal yesterday made my month. Everyone said this is by far one of the best fields they have ever flown and we will be here again next year for the new anual KC Scale, TD, Aerotow and Soaring Funfly.
By the way, we had four fliers joint the ranks of medal holders in the Scale Soaring Achievment Program sponsored by John Derstine at www.scalesoaring.com
See you all next year and thanks for your participation and nice meeting you all,
Tom Martin

I had a great time and met lots of wonderful people. Tom, a big thanks for you work in organizing the event. I have only been here a week and after finding the glider people it feels like home.
The meet was well run and attended. The number of tow planes with skilled tow pilots was amazing as were the number of scale sailplanes set up for aero tow. I wish I had brought my digital camera so I could share pictures of this amazing event.
I had a great time flying my full scale Aegea Mantis. ;) I was experiencing the rush of flying my full scale Surprise 11 ;) when I had an embarrassing mishap  . Dieter, if you monitor the thermal threads; I NEED A NEW SURPRISE 11 FUSELAGE.

Is there an email or website where you list where you fly? If so, could you direct me there. Also, I have some pictures if you want them for your site.
Thanks, Ryan
