Well... I did..and its not too big a deal, however, I was required to fill in more personal info than ever...join a website...go back and forth with my email to confirm & download..."my order"... he mustve certainly meant FREE monetarily, cause he sure didnt mean it with anonymity.

Thumbs down with the hangin carrot that says FREE.

Thanks for the issue, Im sure ill enjoy it....... and that my friend, is my opinion....... AND ITS FREE!!!

If it's free, then we want a direct download link.
This coming from the publishing house that is turning "Quiet Flyer" into "GWS/Firebird flyer and other cheap backyard stuff...Oh, and sometimes we show a sailplane to justify the title" is supsicious.
Thank God (or St. Fermin) that in Europe we have Q&EF that does pay attention to slope and sailplanes, as well as the French magazines, that do the same...

Upon download of the magazine there are no pop ups that will start appearing in your internet and no junk email that will appear in your mailbox (unless you click Newsletter when you sign up, then you will receive promo emails from Kiona Publishing, Inc. only).

The magazine is FREE, the information you supply is merely a way to keep track of interested readers, upon release of the next issue you will merely have to log in with your user name and password to download the next issue.

A bit of information is a small price to pay for a FREE magazine that would cost you $6.50 on the newstand. For those of you who prefer a print magazine, all you have to do is print out the pages on your printer.

Hope you all enjoy the magazine.

Come on guys without Quiet Flyer what would we have? I agree it's far from the ideal soaring magazine and is heavily geared towards electrics but it still beats the alternative, NOTHING. The magazine started as a sailplane only publication and was not turning a profit. So electrics were added to broaded the customer base. Would you rather it just go belly up? The same thing happened to QFI it was merged with the electric magazine to broaded the customer base. It's also now heavily electric (and cheezy electric too, nuthin but freekin stick planes). I would like to see more sailplane articles too (hmmm maybe I should finish that darn PSS Festival report :o ).

I tell you what I would like to see:

Quality HONEST product reviews. Not ones the MFG pays for (but then the advertising pulls out if its bad) Remember the review that said the AMD SU-35 fly great. HAHAHA Yea right.

Event coverage. I wanna see what I missed. The Mid Winter Electrics, The PSS Fest, The ISR at Davenport, Scale Meets etc. With flight shots please, not grab and grins. I wanna see who won the Viking Race, The ELectric Worlds etc.

Build and "How to" articles. I like to see how Dave Platt details his planes. I wanna see the newest way to fix a molded wing.

I want to see expensive high end cutting edge stuff I can't afford. Not the latest stick plane from GWS.

Product announcements. Especially from small unknown companies that I otherwise would never hear about. A couple of pages of cool products every month from vendors that DON'T advertise in the magazine. Give em a break and maybe they will start to advertise as sales increase.

That's my wish list

After downloading I must confess that the magazine is OK. Enough sailplane contents to be interesting to me... I'll check if any spam comes to the e-mail I used...

Any Mac users that had problems with downloading the magazine, you will need to right click and choose Download file as on the Order Sucess page.

Once again, there will be no Spam messages in your email if you download the magazine. The only emails you will get are promotional emails from Kiona Publishing, Inc. and only if you choose the Newsletter Option when you created an account.

Some helpful information on reading R/C Cyber Flyer! (http://www.rccyberflyer.com)

In response to some inquiries about the size of the text in R/C Cyber Flyer magazine here are some helpful hints:

ZOOM - Use the Ctrl and + keys (Cmd + on Macs) to zoom in on a page, Ctr and - zooms out. You can move around a zoomed page by holding the space bar and moving the mouse. Release the space bar to click on links and read photo captions.

To get back to the original view hit the Ctrl and 0 (zero) keys.

You can still download your FREE magazine at RCCyberFlyer.com! (http://www.rccyberflyer.com)

Is it possible to download the entire magazine for printing? Or can only one page be downloaded at a time. I would prefer to download it and print it for later reading. How big are the files. I am using dial up and it seems rather slow to download a page.

Very nice! Thanks for making it easier. I printed the whole thing and read it on the train today. The content mix is excellent. If it wasn't that one article with the noisy metal think that belches grease bolted to the front of it I would say that the content is perfect.

I noticed an ad for Kiona that shows that the entire article library is available online. I have to say that this was the biggest find out of the entire issue. I quickly went to my PC once at home and searched for articles about Actro motors. I found one by Steve Neu in Vol 7.1. However, when I clicked to download it I got sent to a broken link. I tried other articles and every one failed to work.

I hope that's fixed soon because I'd love to be able to look up old articles.

Thanks.

You are downloading the whole magazine some 57 pages. And printing is active.

...in case anyone is inquisitive but on dial-up

[Kionapub: netiquette suggests being upfront about sizes of large downloads: I recommend making this clear in the download page. Thanks, and good luck with the e-mag experiment!]

In response to several questions:

The Library is still being worked on, the downloadable pages are being uploaded as we speak and the table of content pages are being fixed. The search function has also been fixed to work better. If you do a search, every article up to issue 8-7 is on the site, so enjoy.

The download size for R/C Cyber Flyer magazine is also now on the download page, as well as some helpful information for downloading. The file is is approx. 15.3 mb.

The magazine is open for printing, simple click the small print button at the bottom of the page. However, this is the entire 57 page magazine you are downloading, so you must wait for the entire download to complete and open before you can print.

Another note: the Kiona Library should be up and going by the end of the week or so, a post will be made once it is ready so everyone can check it out.

We currently have over 1200 searchable articles in the Library from past issues of "Quiet Flyer", "S&E Modeler" and "Scale, Slope and FAI", thats over 8 years of articles.

Very cool. Thanks for paying attention to this. I can't for Steve's articles to be ready. This is an outstanding contribution to our hobby.

PDFs on the library are uploaded up to volume 6. If you happen to find a bad link, there will be a report link button at the bottom of the page.

We are also currently working on a Glossary of Aviation Terms, a searchable database of over 700 aviation terms, which should be up and online by Friday. Again, I will make a post letting everyone know where they can find it.
