newbie wants to learn

I would love to learn the basics so that I could construct a few DIY projects. I've set a goal of buliding a servo tester, now can someone tell me where to start (how to read a schematic, solder, etc)?
I hope this is not overly general to be useful.

Look at the BEC pages, about 1/3 way down on the left pane..loadsa stuff for beginners....and many projects depending on what you want to build...Further down in the projects section there is a circuit symbols page which you may find helpful.
