I'm new to the board and just bought a new 47" wooden custom built shallow V Mono hull. I would like to put a 30cc gas engine in it. I would appreciate any tips and especially pictures. Is there anyone out there who has a WOODEN boat like this?

Wooden ... ??

How about a pic. How shallow / deep is it (height of transom)? What is the spacing between the inside of stringers?

Yes, pix are good. There really isn't a lot of difference between wood and 'glas boats except for the material of choice.

Hi Ron:

And your material of choice would be ..... ????

I think we're assuming a 47 in. bare hull length here ...

And the hull width (beam) would be ... ?

And the transom height would be ... ???

And how can I help you with your question ... ??

And ... pix are really very helpful, whether they are pix of wood OR "'glas hulls", to assist in how / where / to mount the engine / driveline / radio box / fuel tank / cooling / hardware etc., etc. I have built well over a dozen of these. I'm just trying to help.

I've got boats in wood, 'glas and plastic. Each has their pros and cons. The old schoolers still love wood as it's easy to work with plus easier to repair. I like them all, Carbon Fiber I love but a lot of coin.

Hi again Ron:

I must say that I got confusused, and thought you were "telecom tech" responding to my original response post, # 2.

Do you have any pix of your boats?

Are you running Gas, Glow, Electric??

Happy and SAFE Boating,

Russ :)

Check out our site www.whobbies.com for pics, hints and hardware. We have been building gear for large scale gasoline boats for over 20 years. You can also call the tech line 863-699-1231 and talk to Tony. He has an answer for just about any question regarding big gas boats.
