Who's got the biggest/most powerful electric power system for giant scale? I saw Hacker sells some motors for planes up to 16 pounds or so - but does anyone sell something bigger than that?

I don't know what you are wanting for sure, but an AXI 4130/20 with a two to one reduction on 20 cells turns a BIG prop..29" and has lots of power for WW1 type models. You could play with the reduction and cell count to obtain more thrust or prop speed. The nice thing about the Axi is that it is comparatively inexpensive
under 200 dollars

Thanks. I found some more info on that at the hobby lobby site. Does anyone know of anything bigger? I'm toying with the idea of a twin electric paramotor. I need 25 lbs of thrust at a flying speed of 20-30 mph (from each of two motors). I don't know what that would be in terms of static thrust. Is the static thrust usually greater than the actual thrust at flying speed?

Hi,
Well, here is
one I have used in Giant Scale :
14ft Piper Super Cub, powered by Torcman TM685
outrunner at 2,8KW.
It swings 26x10" Menz 4300rpm, giving static thrust 10kgs
Flight pack is Kokam SHD2100 10s6p (12,6Ah)
Super Cub AUW is 53lbs

Here's some big conversions, over 14 lbs, from the airborne page:

MEC has some potential, equals to glow 120:

I'm considering buying one of the new AXI's soon because I like outrunners. I want to convert an Air Core corroplast plane:

Hi,
34 % Super Cub endurance is 20 minutes. It can aerotow up 17ft vintage gliders,
so highest TOW mass has been apprx 68lbs.

Fly RC Mag covered the Joe Nall Fly-In. It says here that Pat Hartness had a 40% Extra powered by four Hacker motors. The reduction system was made of belts and it flew twice during the Fly-In.
By the way Hannu, do you know Finnish? My name is Kimmo. My Mom and Dad both speak Finnish and we learned the language from them. My dads a fifth generation Finn and my mom was born in Finland. In fact, I didn't know any English when I started school. I've lost a lot of the language since we don't use it as much as we did but I can still read, write (to some extent), understand, and hold a conversation in Finnish. I'm only 16 years old but I may be making a trip to Helsinki and the surrounding area to visit relatives soon. Kiitos. :p

Okay, nothing can beat the 4 C50xl's, but maxcim motors provides a giant motor for bout 3000 watts. 30" direct drive, powerful, but I've never seen such a powerful Hacker setup. I think that Hacker is the most powerful in the world. BTW, the 4 C50xl setup got destroyed because the designers of the setup were idiots. They had no experience with electrics and screwed practically everything up. Only when Jason Schulman and some other expert electric guy offered to fix it over night that it worked, but still needs to be perfected... :(

Hi,
Well, I dont think Maxcim is making any motors DD to run 30" prop,
it is geared. Torcman TM685 what I use, swings 26x10"" without gearbox,
and its been used also in Germany in 17ft Klemm geared turning 32x16".

Another system is two Feigao b50xl motors in a Innerdemon gear drive good for 3,000 Watts
Gear drive about $160.00 Complete with mount and prop drive
Two B50xl motors about $110.00= $220.00
Total about $380.00
