Helllo guys,

I like to construct a Airplane to make aerial photos, so I donīt know how to start. I know that the plane have to fly very slow and with high altitute.

I have on mind a total weight (including photo equipament) about 6kg.

So what is the ideal aspect ratio ?

What airfoil could be good ?

I have these:
Fx -62-137
Selig - 1223
Eppler - 423
Naca 1412

What engine could be goog ?

So many questions !!!

Thanks for all help !

High aspect ratio (like a glider) can hang around and lift a lot without much power, low aspect ratio (like delta wings) need more power, less stable, but they do slow down better for small landing stites.

ok !

So must be with high aspect ratio... I think in something around 5-6

Thanks,

from what i've looked at and read, I think AR of 5-6 is average, with 4-5 being low and 6-8 being high... some gliders are closer to 10:1 span to chord

You're certainly welcome to begin your design from scratch because that's a neglected part of the RC hobby.
However, there's no reason to build what you're looking for from scratch because you'll get everything you want (and then some) with a Senior Telemaster.

It's a GREAT gentle flying, slow, aircraft as a camera platform, and with 95" wingspan, will haul pretty much anything you want with a .91FX.

Here is my Telemaster. Well lets just say I started out with Telemaster wings and Hor stab:

Ok Guys,

I know that it is possible what I want from kits, but I would like to construct to I myself my model by Scracht, because this will be a challenge for me.

Thanks for all help,

Lucas

Lucas,

This thread might be useful. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191234

Make sure you show us your progress with this project.

Graham.

I think you want an aspect ration of like 10:1. Some gliders are as high as 16:1.

Good for you!!

It's nice to see someone anxious to explore the possibilities of the hobby through design and building rather than all these new guys who come in to the hobby, fly a couple of ARF's, get bored, and quit the hobby.

There are several good RC aircraft design books available and a simple Google search will bring them up. Try "RC aircraft design" as a search term (with and without the quotes) and have a good time.
It will also benefit you greatly if you learn some basic CAD with even the most basic CAD program. It will cut down your drawing time immensely (once you get the hang of CAD drawing).

Thanks for all

Grahan, the thread about airfoil is so useful !

Now I can begin my project :)

Highflight, thanks for cumpliments. :)

And I will post here my progress !

Thanks for all help,

Lucas

BTW: see my galery is possible to see my first design Project: a R/C Paramotor.
