This may not be the forum to ask this in, but I am interrested in building a ROV to operate at depths of 500 ft, and wondered if anyone might know ways of waterproofing the motors to that depth. I want to operate regularly at 300 ft, so I figure if I build it stronger, I can play a bit. Failing that, does anyone know of sites that might help me, or where I might buy the motors already waterproofed? This is very much at the concept stage right now, and I am trying to figure out what difficulties I'll face.

Thanks,

Kevin

Wow 500 feet! Heck Ive owned a dozen subs and Im content just to keep the water tight container dry at 3 feet.

Most people building home made ROVs use cheap Walmart bilge pumps to power their ROVs. I've also heard of people using trolling motors as well. Here is a link to a guy who made a $100 ROV.
