Hello nexsusbob,
I have designed and using this power panel for over a year now and really happy with it. Maybe you would like to take a look. I can supply all schematics and PCB designs as EAGLE files if you like.
It has an integrated NiCd-NiMh charger for up to 7 cells, a glow plug driver which you can adjust the current, an ESV to check the charge level of field batteries in my flight box and a fan controller to control the cooling fan inside the box during charging of the battery packs. There is also a seperate GellCell charger in my flight box which I am using to charge my field batteries from the mains.
I have also prepared the panel art which you can use.
Have fun

Hi,
I am attaching the EAGLE files. I will also take some snapshots from my field box tonight to aid you while you are building this power panel. I have installed it in a commercial toolbox that I have bought from a home improvement store. It is cheap and very roomy.

It seems that the files can not be opened with the demo vesion of Eagle Ver 4.11. I assume that the PC board dimentions exceeds the size of the demo version. The demo version can only work with PCB layouts of 100 x 80 mm.

Actually I am using the Pro version of the EAGLE but you must be able to open and print the files even with a free version even though you can not edit it.
Eric, did you also tried and failed to open the files?

Hi Adalaman
Yes, I tried opening it with Eagle 4.11 (Demo), and received the following message:
"Load error 293 on file 'PowerPanel v1-1.brd'
Please contact Cadsoft if you are sure that the file has not been damaged (for instance due to disk problems or during file transfer), and that the file has not been edited with an illegal copy of EAGLE."

hi Osman, has anyone worked out the reason for not being able to open the files yet? I've just downloaded Eagle 4.13 (freeware) and the power panel.zip but I also cannot open it.
Most people in our club use those emergency car starter packs for starting ic planes or charging small electrics and I was looking at putting the glow driver in one.
Hope you can help :)
Joe
I'm looking for a simple glow driver
