Sure looks like it but reading the text surely not, its been flying for 2.5
hours over 4 months and never crashed...

The text from the add says all

"You are bidding for a ready to fly Raptor 30 V2 Helicopter with Radio gear,
Starting equipment & a few tools & spares, all worth around £1050. Just add
fuel & sunny weather & she's ready to fly.

It is in Mint condition & is only 4 months old, it has had no crashes or
hard landings & has only flown for two & a half hours. Professionally
built, setup & test flown. It has aMDS38 engine which has been run in.

Radio gear is an Sanwa RD6000 sport & servos, this is a six channnel, four
model unit, comes with Ni-Cad pack for Tx & Heli, also comes with charger.
GWS PG-03 piezo gyro fitted & setup.

A great model to start learning to fly or for 3D flying with a few small
adjustments.

Body & fins painted by myself but new body & fins come with the Helo.
Remote glow clip & battery charging connection fitted to allow for ease of
starting & flying. Inline fuel filters fitted all round. Accessories
include, Blade caddy, Two enya glow plugs, Inline fuel filter, Plug &
multi-tool spanner & Allen keys.

Starting equipment includes Hand operateted fuel pump, Clipon glow plug
starter & charger, Irvine Hi torque 12 Volt electric starter & starting bar
with one-way bearings.

If you have any questions please email me. I have more photos on request.
Winning bidder pays all P&P. Happy Bidding"

I am trying to add up the value that he claims, some model shop must be
rubbing their hands with this guy.

Why has it got a nice purple tail boom if its never been crashed.

Indeed they are, and yoou've REALLY got to love the thinking behind the
paint "scheme". Every part is different from any of it's partners:-)

Seems like a bit of a "Heli bits glued as one" type of thing to me, AND done
by someone who couldn't build a heli if his lfe depended on it.

Eh.. fly 3D using a heli with GWS PG-03 gyro ... and paddles+tail rotor
backwards? He must indeed be a professional flyer... can fly anything.

Maybe he will works magic with a properly built heli with a better gyro.

The power and reliability from the MDS engine helps him a lot.

Curtis, Jason and all the others need to watch their backs with this star.

Umm... This is in the auction... "I have recently fitted a new stainless
steel flybar and the helicopter was test flown this saturday having put the
paddles the right way around"

So, he installed a new flybar, made a mistake, took the photos, and then
fixed the problem and tested... What's the problem with that?

Mirror photo?

Steve R.
Jul 20, 2004, 05:11 PM
Mirroring the photo wouldn't make any difference. The front half of the
tail rotor disk is either turning upward, into the main rotor downwash, or
it's not. I've seen the photo, and tail rotor blades are mounted backwards
from what they should be. Of course, he could have the belt drive twisted
in the wrong direction, thus turning the tail rotor backward from what it
should be, so the blades would be mounted correctly in this case but the
point is, the model is "not" setup to factory specs.

FWIW!,
Fly Safe,
Steve R.

He forgot to polish all that rust too:-)

That machine looks FRIGHTENINGLY like a 1980's Heim Star ranger, but
"something" doesn't make me guarantee it, but whatever it is, it's not a 3D
machine although in it's day it WAS regarded as a pure "Hooligan" heli.
That's assuming it IS a Heim.

The description has been revised... it now ends with

"I have recently fitted a new stainless steel flybar and the helicopter
was test flown this saturday having put the paddles the right way around"

He's obviously had a few questions on this...

Personally, I think the paint scheme is pretty nice - at least it's
different :)

No, no. Just grinning at all the speculation around the auction, and playing
devil's advocate.

Although, I wonder about the new flybar, in light of a statement of no
crashes or hard landings.
