Hi Azarr:
Interesting mount, Is it using GWS EPS400 gears? How much for just the gearbox and gears for those of us who already have some 20mm HiMax motors?

Hi Bob,
No, they've developed their own gears, if you look closely you'll see an aluminum center which has a set screw. Both the bull gear and the pinion can be changed at the field if you want to do testing at the field.
The gearboxes will be available alone shortly, Maxx says 2 - 3 weeks, but haven't given me a suggested retail on the box alone yet. Based on the price of the gearbox with the motor, I'm sure it will be very affordable.

Hi Stuart,
I have the motor/gearbox combos in stock, but no gearboxes or spare parts yet. Maxx products says they will have more in stock next week some time. Give Greg at Maxx Products a call, he might be able to help.

Azarr,
I called Greg and he has the parts I need. Gears are sold in sets ( Spur & Pinion) and he does have prop shafts. These are probably going to be very hot sellers for those who sometimes nose planes into the ground :)
Thanks!

(((prop shafts))). These are probably going to be very hot sellers for those who sometimes nose planes into the ground :)
Your right. I already ordered 2 replacement shafts for the one I bent and the next one. $3 each from calling maxxprod. With my 12x6 on the GB it didn't take much at all to bend the shaft when I landed my no landing gear foamy while the prop was still spinning a little. I'm hoping it was just a fluke and they are not that soft...
BTW - These GB's sound very cool with the 2025 and 6:1. Has kind of a meaty very powerful sound when running...

The major problem I see is the pricing. A Himax 2015 alone goes for $51.95 at my LHS and the same motor with the gearbox goes for $66.95. The same LHS has the gearboxes only for $25.95. That just doesn't wash with me. As someone who already has 5 of these motors that were purchased prior to the introduction of the gearbox I can't see having to pay a $10 premium for being a faithful Himax customer.

The shafts seem to be harder ( and more brittle) than the GWS shafts. Mine broke when I tried to straighten it.

I have a few questions about this gearbox.
1) What diameter is the prop shaft.
2) Are GWS prop shaft's interchangable with this gearbox or do I have to purchase shaft's specifically designed for this gearbox?
3) Are GWS spur gears useable with this gearbox?
4) Will this gearbox work with my Razor 2500's? (Is a razor 2500 the same diameter as a himax 2215/2025?
