Hello,

I'm looking for a system which can synchronize the two glow engines of a
twin (like a p38).

It must not be Master/Slave based because, the slave may fail, and the master will not idle in this case.
So, I'm not interested for instance by the sync engine twin system on
http://www.emsjomar.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=6

At least, the system should stop or idle the remaining engine if one fail;

I imagine a system with optical sensor to get the rpm of each propeller, not magnetic sensor.

I'm looking for a plan or a system, ready to use

Thanks
Regards

Welcome to Ezone MLD :) you're now only one step away from a single controller/twin brushless setup :D

Well, you're not far from truth .... but I would prefer to use Glow engine for power & weight.
In fact, I read on Graupner site that a lipo has 50-80% of its full capacity after 50 cycles. That's why Glow engine still have my preference.

If that were the case, LiPo would not be that popular. Ask/read in the Batteries & chargers (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=129) subforum.

MLD,

I've heard that the optical sensors on our hand tachs are sometimes flaky. Besides the mounting hassle, what's the problem with a magnetic sensor?

I, too, have been contemplating this design for quite a while.

Basically, what you want to do is actually not synch the throttles but instead have independent (but identical) feedback control loops governing the speed of both engines to the same reference. That way if you lose one the other stays.

Are there any glow engine governors for singles? If so, just use two and set them to exactly the same settings.

I agree that magnetic pickup is the better way to go for this. Sensing the prop just seems... dicey. Reflective sensors are a pain six ways til sunday.
