I have an Eclipse. I will use it on a V-tail plane, with v-tail mix. Can I use P-mix to get both controls on the right side- aileron stick working as well as rudder for rudder control. If so, can I mix 50%-50% aileron stick-elevator stick (like it works rudder-elevator)?

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Mike Mayberry Hitecs voice to the hobbyist's endless lust! :p Great so far...... Will Hitec soon include scanners in some Tx's to either scan for channel in use and maybe a non-on mode at start up if smae ch freq is in use? Best Regards

KeithK- Just use the elevon mix to get it all on the right stick.

Bleriot- I don't expect to see anything like that for a while.

Hey Mike,

For some unexplainable reason my charger for my Focus III isn't working any more. I was just wondering what the best way is to charge my Tx battery now. My dad rigged up a charger using the original cord from the charger itself. It works fine, but it's not the most efficient way to charge the battery I'm sure. I've also tried ordering a new Hitec charger from the Local Hobby Store, but they couldn't get it. What would you recommend? Carging via my CG-330 maybe?

Thanks!

Mike, I'm considering the HFS-04MI+4 receiver for a slope plane. Other than it being a single-conversion receiver, are there any reasons I should not use this and use a 555 instead? I plane to use it in a Zagi and maybe a JW.

While I'm at it, over in Modeling Science someone is asking why Hitec servos have stickers with on them. I've noticed that the stickers have different numbers--what do they mean and should I pay attention to them?

MikeMayberry
Jan 23, 2002, 01:07 PM
AirVenture- The charger would be covered under warranty so if you send it in we will repair or replace it at no charge. If you use the 330 then use the lowest rate (.5A).

wjjones- The 04MI is and excellent receiver at an even better price. I would not hesitate to use it in that application. Just make sure you use the Hitec single conversion cystal.

The numbers are date code that lets us know when the servo was built.

Hi Mike-
I have several Hitec and Futaba RXs. All work well with my Prism tx.
But... I have one JR rx that seems not to work. Of course I change the shift. ANd when I power everything up the servos start spinning and don't stop. I've sent the RX back for repair. And I'm told by JR that they found no problem.
So here's the question, is it possible for my TX to fail in such a way as only one shift type would work. I only have one TX right now so I'm holding off sending it in for repair.

Mike:

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but could you please explain how I would go about programming my Flash-5 for dual aileron servos (without a Y-connector). I would like to program flaps or spoilerons later if my E-Streak won't slow down fast enough. I know this involves the use of channel 5, but don't have a clue for the rest of the programming involved.

If there is a publication (other than the manual) that I should read, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

In another thread related to park flyers unkowingly shooting each other and club flyers down, I questioned whether it would be trivial to build an reciever into transmitters, so that when it's switched on, the radio would do a quick test to see whether another TX in the area was operating (or other harmful interference) and refuse to turn on. If this is a feasible idea, please pass it along to your R&D department, I think it could save a lot of planes from doing a lot of damage if widely implemented ;)

Does Hitec offer Tx carrying cases ?.

Are you coming to the RC Expo in WA, Feb 2+3 ?.

I know this is an oft repeated question, but since this is a new thread.....

What's up with the feather receivers. I have 2 that I bought before I discovered the e-zone, and read about the problems with them. Then after reading abou the problems, I let them sit on the shelf for a few months.

Finally I tried one in a very rugged and well-flown plane. I had flown the plane with a number of different power systems, and 3 different receivers including a supreme, JR610M, and GWS. All worked fine where I fly, which is a park with no other flying sites for at least a 20 mile radius, and no other flyers there.

To summarize - the feather was terrible! It glitched constantly, both with the motor on and off. I flew it very close to me, and no matter how close I was to the plane, I could hear and see it glitching. Pulled it out and put it back on the shelf immediately.

Are they all that bad? This was so bad that I don't even have the heart to sell them or even give them away, since as far as far as I can tell installing a feather is the fastest way to a crash.

I have 4 hitec radios, 5 other hitec receivers, and probably 30 servos. They are all great, except for these feather receivers. What gives?

Hi Mike;

I recieved my Feather RX back from Poway today. The paperwork doesn't indicate that anything was found wrong with it, or done to it. It really doesn't say anything. I sent it in because it glitched (real bad) intermitently.

I don't want to fly it nothing is changed. Could you find out what the results of the checks were? What checks are performed? RMA 21467. Eric King.

Thanks,

mumblety-peg- Are you using the Spectra module? What JR receiver is it?

GaryK- You will need to be in the GLID/ACRO mode see page #9 of the manual. Then plug both aileron servos into channels #1 & #5 and program the flapperon settings, refer to page #21.

Steve Fehr- Sounds like a good idea to me!

William A- No, you will need to find an aftermarket case. Yes, I will be at the show.

insol- Send them in and we will repair or replace them at no charge. They are not nearly as good as our dual conversion receivers but they should work within 1000ft without glitching.

ETKing- We don't always list what was done, but if we didn't do anything we would say we found nothing wrong. Have you tested it?

Mike.

Mike- No, it's not the Spectra Module. The rx is the is the 610. One of the newer ones. The RX was ok when I used it with a Multiplex tx. But I don't have the Multiplex anymore.

If I may add my two cents on this issue, I've heard lots of stories about JR radio equipment being flaky, but JR refusing to acknowledge the fact, sending it back with "no problems found" on the invoice. I even watched one flier's beautiful One Design mysteriously flip over and eat itself on takeoff with a JR radio that had exhibited glitching before, was sent out for repair, but came back with nothing done to it.

Mike;

I flight tested the Feather RX. Same result as before I sent it in. Range check with motor on low and antenna down ok out to about 12 paces. Sitting on the ground for about 10 minutes, no problem. Flies ok for a couple minutes then motor starts cutting out and servos start to jitter a lot. Control is intermitent, mixed with jittering.

No other planes at the field when conducting this test. Same plane and TX worked fine for many flights with a Super Slim 8 ch RX.

Should I send it in agian?

CG-340 Question

Mike,
I'm looking to get the CG-340 charger for my 50-720 mAh packs. I read somewhere that the charger requires a 4 amp power supply. Will it work with a lower amperage if I'm using lower rates (e.g. a 13v 1amp supply to charge my 720's at 1c)? TIA.

mumblety-peg- I am not aware of any incompatibility issues with that receiver.

mrtim- Ordering a radio on a specific channel can really slow down the delivery. The best thing to do is to get it on any channel then send it in to us and we will change the channel at no charge if you just purchased it. The Flash radios are a big seller and right now we are waiting for more to come in to fill all the back orders.

gliderdude- There has been much discussion on this issue on the E-zone. I would search on it for more info. I believe you need to use the 90 degree setting.

ETKing- If you think it is still defective then send it back in with a note stating you would like it replaced.

kepople- It's not that you can "no longer" purchase them... you could "never" purchase them. This is because it is against FCC regulations to change them without having the radio retuned. You would need to send your transmitter in and we will change the channel and retune it for you. We charge $25 for parts and labor.

kneebuster- No, you will need at least 4 amps.

Mike.

Mike:
I was under the impression that it was against FCC regulations to swap transmitter crystals without having it retuned by a licensed technician, but this seems to contradict that:

http://wireless.fcc.gov/commoperators/wncol.html

If this is true what stops ANYONE from changing crystals? If I read this correctly I'm not sure I "like" this law.
The lower right corner states this was "Last Reviewed/Updated on 08/22/2001". Was the law changed then?
Thanks - it's great having you available!

MikeMayberry
Jan 28, 2002, 07:12 PM
The law changed recently where you do not have to be a licenced tech but just be able to retune it. Therefor you must have access to the proper equipment. Most people that have the equipment ARE licenced technitions.

My sanwa rd6000 has the facility that the throttle stick travel can be physically limited but still giving full electronic throw. This is very usefull when flying at the extremes of throttle setting. Many speed controllers set full throttle automatically according to your throw so it is of no use to set the EPA.
I have recently aquired an eclipse and just want to confirm that it is not possible with this transmitter.

Thank You

Hi Mike,

This may have been touched on once or twice before but couldn't find anything on this doing a search.

Here's the question,

Does it harm the Tx to operate it with antenna down ?.

Like doing a range check or setting up trim and linkage on the bench.
Some hitec manuals say not to do this(focus 2+3) and other hitec manuals don't even mention it(flash 5).

Is there a 'rule of thumb' to follow here with all radios ?.
Can some radios take it and others can't ?.

Hi Mike
Last fall I was having problems with your Hitec 225 servos going off center with heat. At hitec forum there was someone else with the same problem. I returned both servos to Hitec and they were replaced . The two new servos acted in the same manner. I cannot compete in sailplane competitions with these servos. I am flying a four servo wing sailplane and I have to neutralize the flaps prior to launch when the sailplane lands the flaps have changed position due to cooling effect of airflow over the wing in effect changing the camber of the wing. I am using these servos for flaps. This is not a linkage problem. I have HS 81s in the same wing and same linkage lenght - no problems. I have contacted Tony Ohm and he says a new chip is being designed to address the problem. When will the new chip be availiable and I would hope you would replace these servos with the new design. Thanks.
P.S. this did not seem to be a problem in the older HS 225s , did Hitec modify the newer HS225s? Thanks

Mike,

I have an eclipse 7 tx.

I was wondering why the voltage display shows

between 10.8 volts (just charged bat)
to 9.4 (low voltage warning)

but the bat pack is an 8 cell pack.

This would seem to indicate 8 cells x 1.2 volts per cell = 9.6 volts
peak not the 10.8 volts the display is indicating.

Unless the pack is not a pack of NiCds but it states it is. Or does
this thing have a switching power supply in it.

Also why the low voltage cutout at 9.4 volts?

Mike,
Just purchased a Flash 5SX, my first computer radio. I tried to get an answer out of someone on this forum, but nobody responded, maybe you can help me...I have a slope plane that uses only elevons. I set up the radio for elevon mixing, but what I need to do is have minimum elevator throw, but much more aileron throw for turning. Someone told me this was hard to do with the Flash 5, but I could "trick" it somehow using dual-rates. Could you explain how in "EASY" terms? Thanks for any help.

Mike,

When my battery low warning comes on (9.2V), would it ever be necesssary to leave the radio on to drain the battery even further before I recharge? By doing this every once in awhile, could that extend the battery life? Thanks!

MikeMayberry
Jan 30, 2002, 12:34 PM
Rudolph- No, you cannot physically limit the travel on the gimbal.

William A- It's not a good idea to leave the power on with the antenna down for longer than 5 minutes or so or it can overload the output transistor. If you are using a flight sim you should remove the module.

black alder- This is very rare but there have been no changes to this servo.

The Other Dave- A fully charged Nicad will read about 1.35V multiply that by 8 = 10.8V. The warning is always on the conservative side. At 9.4V you'll have approximately 10-15 minutes of runtime left in the transmitter. The last thing you would want is to have the low battery warning come on when you have no time left. This way you have time to land.

tenover- Just set your elevator dual rate to the amount of travel you want, do the same for the aileron. Refer to page# 19 in the manual.

Scott Elmore- You could run it down further every once in a while but make sure you leave the antenna up and don't let it get to zero.

Mike.

Mike,

I have some HS55 servos. I find that I cannot get the output arm at 90 degrees to the servo with the servo in the neutral position. The splines don’t give me an option to line-up correctly either being a few degrees one way or the other.

This happens on my 3 HS55 servos which are all from different sources and are of different ages. I am using a Futaba Challenger radio with a Jeti Rex 4 Rx. I have no trouble using this set-up with my HS60 servos - and yes my trims are centred! :-)

Is it just a problem with the HS55’s or am I being really stupid?
Thanks

Cush

MikeMayberry

Pierre Audette- Elevon mixes the aileron and elevator where V-tail mixes the rudder and elevator. However, if you have a plane that has no ailerons and a V-tail you will want to set it up in elevon mode so the rudder control in on the right stick.

wayne- I personally see no need to slow charge those cells but if you want to you will have to trick the charger into thinking the pack has peaked because it does not trickle when you first plug it in, only after it peaks. You can do this by starting the charge cycle and reducing the charge rate to make it false peak.

Kevin Murray- The 5125's are due in March 2002. The Oct 2001 date posted on our website was a little too optimistic and we have not got around to changing it... sorry!

Cush- That is not uncommon, they are not defective.

Mike,

First off, I would like to thank you and your company for returning a potentially crash-damaged 555 to me with a clean bill of health and a new crystal--free of charge. You guys continue to set the standard for excellent customer service. I guess that's why I own 2 Flash 5's, 8 555's, a Slim 7, and too many Hitec servos to count.

Now on to my three questions regarding the Flash 5.

1. I have an E3D that I am try to program with both dual rates and exponential--both use the switches #1 and #4 on the Flash 5. The E3D instructions call for low rates of 10 degree movement on the ailerons and elevators and high rates of 45 degree movement on the ailerons and elevator with 100%exponential dialed in on the high rates. When I set my low rates for the 10 degree movement and I flip the switch to get high rates and exponential, I can't increase movement to 45 degrees--my understanding is I can only increase my low rate 125%, which is not enough. Can the Flash 5 support the set-up that's been recommended on the E3D? How?

2. On my older Flash 5, I'm trying to change the type of aircraft from "ACRO" to "GLIDACRO." I hold down the up and down buttons and power up the transmitter. I see the model number and "ACRO" flashing. But when I push the cut/save button, the "ACRO" does not change to "GLIDACRO" as per the manual. I tried the exact same procedure on my other transmitter and it did make the change. Other than this, the transmitter in question appears to be working fine. Any ideas?

3. Can the Flash 5 support mixed elevator/aileron movement such that when the elevator is pulled up the ailerons pull up also for tighter loops and 3D stuff I know very little about?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Eric

MikeMayberry
Feb 07, 2002, 12:11 PM
EricBjorn- Thanks for the good words! As for the Flash and your E3D... it is not going to do exactly what you want, because in order to use Expo you have to flip the D/R switch up. This means you can only get a 25% increase in rates with Expo. It will also not do the elevator flap mix like you want. You say you have an older Flash-- is it the SX? If not then you are limited to ACRO mode only.

To be honest, you would really need the Eclipse to do what you want with that type of airplane. Sorry!

Mike.

Hi Mike,
I'm sure you've been asked this a thousand times allready. I know it has been asked on the Zone probably a million times. What I'd like is an explanation as to why their is no 90 deg CCPM swash mode in the Eclipse? I've heard of people setting it up using P-mixers. But It should already be there. I'm currently shopping for a computer radio for my Eco 8. And I really wanted to get the Eclipse. But, It looks as though I'll have to get something else. Just wanted an explanation straight from the horses mouth. :)

Thanks for all the time you put in here at the Zone.

MikeMayberry
Feb 14, 2002, 01:43 PM
Foxtrot- I don't know what to tell you... When the radio was being developed CCPM was pretty new. 120 and 180 were the most popular at the time, and 90 degree standard is a must. 90 degree CCPM can be obtained by mixing (in 120 degree mode) channel 2 to 6 and channel 2 to 1 using the free mixers. Then set the % until elevator inputs don't move the forward servos.

LakeRat- The 5645s are a little on the slow side, they would be ok for the cyclic, but I would recommend the 5625 for the tail.

virus280- You can get them from http://www.maxxprod.com

Hi Mike-

Have an Eclipse for about 5 months. While it has only been charged/discharged a few times, I only get about an hour before it needs to be charged.
In addition, I noticed that the module in back gets quite warm after about 5-10 minutes of running time (which is good for keeping me warm during those cold winter flights, but prabably not good for running time).

I am using the stock battery, rated at 600 mah. Is this normal?

I need to buy a new Rx and servos (for my new Twinjet), and I've found a place that for about $10 more sells it in a Tx/Rx flight pack with the Focus 3 FM. So, I thought that it would be good to sell the Focus 3AM Tx/Rx that came with the SS Pro and rplace it with the Focus 3FM. But then for $40 more I could get the same package and a Laser 4.

Background: I already have a Flash 5XG. I have two Sky Scooters and the new Twin jet. I'm thinking that when I fly the Sky Scooter it would be nice to use the Flash 5 instead switching to the Focus 3AM. Switching Rx Xtals is quick switching RXs is a pain.

I like the Focus 3 because the throttle is in back and easier for when my kids are flying (They are still learning). However, can't the Laser 4 work as a buddy box? Then I could hook the Laser 4 up to the Flash 5 when the kids are (learning to) flying.

Thanks.

Mike,

I'm contemplating an Eclipse as my second computer Tx (have a Multiplex Cockpit).

I have a few questions:

1. Is the mode (acro, heli, etc.) stored with each model memory (so that I could fly both helis and fixed wing airplanes with it)?

2. Which other HiTec transmitters are compatible with it as a buddy box?

3. Is the shift selection also stored in the model memory?

Unrelated to that,

I have one of those Cirrus-branded Rxs that are Feathers under the skin and mine behaves much like the Feathers described in posts earlier in this thread (glitchy even when there are no other radios on at the field). I presume I should send it in?

Thanks.

RallyGTX- No problem on 4.8V.

PaulF- What is the voltage after an overnight charge? It should be in the 11's and settle into the high 10's for a while. It could be that your meter needs to be recalibrated. The heat in the module is normal.

erashby- How, you even confused me! I would just buy the flight pack and use up the model memory in your Flash.

Mike,
I've probably messed up my Flash 5X, but I've been using it to learn to hover on the RF G2 simulator. I've been doing it with the antenna down. If I want to 'remove the module' as you described in a previous answer to a similar question, is it good enough to remove the crystal on the front panel or am I not able to do it on the Flash 5X. If I can't use the Flash, I should be able to do it with my Eclipse and remove the Spectra module, right?

Thanks again for a great bunch of products, I love mine!

Hi Mike, tried searching to no avail, so forgive me if I'm duplicating a question.

I upgraded my Flash 5 to an Eclipse 7 due to a generous benefactor. I'm using the 555 and have the alerons plugged into channels 1 and 5 with the Flash.

The Eclipse manual seems to imply that I need to plug in the second aleron to channel 6. I just can't seem to find the channel 6 plug no matter how hard I try on the 555. Im guessing that this relates to the whole 5 channel receiver thing.

Any way around this that I'm missing?

Thanks

Rusty

>>PaulF- What is the voltage after an overnight charge? It should be in the 11's and settle into the high 10's for a while. It could be that your meter needs to be recalibrated. The heat in the module is normal. <<

Mike, it's ~ 11.4 volts off the charger, then drops to the mid-10s soon after.

I typically let it charge for ~ 13 - 18 hours each time.

Thanks

Mike,

The antenna on my Flash 5X, a year old, no bends or kinks - - is very screaky when I open and close it. I've cleaned it thoroughly with denatured alchol, which didn't help. Is there a lube I could use - WD40 or the like to loosen it up without degrading the radio performance? It seems too soon to buy a new antenna and this one looks fine.

Miike,

I have an older Hitech/RCD 535 micro FM d-c receiver. It does not respond to the transmitter - it just quit working one day. I've tried a new crystal to no avail. Would it be worth the cost of sending it in for service, or would my money be better spent on a new rx?

Hi Mike

Over a year ago when I started this hobby, I had a receiver problem. You replied that service turn-around was typicaly two weeks. At that time I replied that two weeks was unreasonably long. Since then I have realized that all good things in this hobby take time.
I have had Hitec service on several occasions and would rate it excellent. I apologize for my impatience.

The antennae wire on my Has 03MB Am receiver was torn off where it exits the case. Should I attempt to solder it back on or do you recommend returning it for service ?

Thank You.

Al

Hello mike

Nearly every piece of radio equipment I own is Hitec (Eclipse with spectra, 2 focus 3's,2 feather rec,and 4 hs-55 servos), but I have to admitt I am not to satisfied with the Hs-55 servos lately.
I lost one of my favorite planes last month to a out of the blue rudder servo failure, plane was totaled, I have sent the servo and the reciever in for repair and ya'll currently have them in your shop. About a week ago I was putting the finishing touches on a new homebuilt that I was wanting to fly bad so I went to my LHS and bought 2 brand new hs_55's and installed them. I am so glad I gave the new plane a very detailed run through prior to it's first flight because one of the new servos sat right there in front of me a tripped totaly out. it is fine when you first power the system up but if you wait 2-3 minutes it starts to hunt.....a little at first then it goes completly crazy and will not respond at all. I thought well I probably have a bad reciever, so I changed it out with a known good one ( I flew that plane tonight ) and the same thing happened again after a few minutes it would trip out. I am not sure what is wrong but I am sort of pissed that I would have this happen to me twice within several weeks of each other, I like ya'lls equipment but I have had a 50 % failure rate on these servos and at 25 bucks a pop that is a little to much, especially considering that I have some cheap gws servos that have probably 200 flights on them and have never failed to work properly. I assure you had I flown this new plane and lost it due to this glitchy servo I would have promptly sold every piece of Hitec equipment I own and NEVER bought another thing from your company. I am going to try to get the LHS to exchange this servo, I hope they do if not I will be sending it straight to your service department on wensday. I am sort of scared to fly the plane now with these servos in it, "repaired" or "new"

Howdy Mike.
Hey is there any updates coming up for the Eclipse as I'm assuming you have had enough tim,e to colate customer enquires & problems now.:p

No particular reason for asking just thought I would ask.;)

Hello Mike, I hope you can help me here. Im sure Im doing something dumb, so if I am dont be afraid to say so!
I am using a Flash 5, micro 555 rx, hs-85bb servos, and I'm trying to use a Y connector (hitec) to use 1 channel for ailerons. A pretty standard settup, had the same setup in many planes. For some silly reason, when using the Y connector, I have no control, dead stick. If I plug each servo in by itself (same channel), they work just fine. But if I use the Y connector, I have nothing at all. I have tried 3 Y harnesses, and one of them I did test on another plane with the same setup except hs-81 servos, which worked just fine. So I know the harness is fine, I know the radio works, the ONLY thing differant is the servos. Am I missing something here? I've GOT to be doing something dumb, but this one is stumping me as I tested it on another plane, I didnt even turn the radio off so I KNOW nothing changed in the programming.... Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mike

Hello Mike

I will soon be buying a new radio and have pretty much settled on the Eclipse, one question which I’ve seen discussed many times but have never got a definitive answer on. When using a computer radio (Eclipse) with the trainer cord and a non-computer “buddy box” (Futaba Conquest 4 FM in this case), will the mixers and settings in the computer radio stay in effect when the trainer radio is in control?

Thanks

Mike,

I have an eclipse and a zagi. Using a feather receiver.

I would like to do differential on the aileron portion
of the elevons.

I am using the elevon functionality to mix the channels
so the normal method of enabling flaperons won't work.

I don't want to use EPA because this would limit
my downtravel for the elevator portion of the throw.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks

Mike,
I have a Flash 5X and use it for Great Planes RealFlight Simulator G2 with Transmitter Interface. I plug an adapter into the buddy jack on the Flash 5x and the software in the PC allows me to fly the RC simulator. It has worked flawlessly until recently when while flying the throttle control suddenly got mixed with the elevator and the elevator control stopped sending a signal. I thought it was the interface as the TX seemed to still transmit correctly. Realflight Software replaced the interface and it worked great for one TX battery cycle. After I charged the battery overnight, replugged in the buddy jack and the problem reappeared!. The Realflight folks think that the Flash 5X might be at fault. I have had the TX for about a year. Is there anything in your experience that could be happening here? If the TX is at fault, can this be repaired?

Thanks

I am keen to get an Ecplise 7 here in UK but no retailers have stock and no idea when they will. Can I order from the US? Are there other retailers in Europe I could try? Am I asking the right guy :-)

Forgive me if you've answered this already, but what's the deal with the supply (or lack thereof) of Hitec products in San Diego? I've been waiting weeks for a couple HiTec HS-85MG servos and a crystal for my reciever, but all the hobby shops are telling me there is something going on with Hitec shipping...?? I've even tried to find the items at stores that are 30-50 miles away and get the same answer....Any idea where I can get this stuff? I know I can order it online, but I mean HiTec is only 15 miles from my house, so it doesn't really make sense. Thanks for any suggestions Mike.

Hi Mike,

I'm having a heck of a time with two Feather receivers. It seems that whenever the antenna is pointing directly at me, it loses all signal from me. I have two of these, and I have tried them on my TigerMoth and DuskStik, both with the same result. If I run the antenna to the top of the rudder, as the plane lines up to fly directly away from me, I lose all control. If I run the antenna down the wing, as it flies 90 degrees from me, I again lose control. Once they are no longer lined up with me, I again have control. Unfortunately I crashed my duskstik because of this. It went into a dive with motor off and no response from the controls. It was like somebody turned off the battery. When I got to the wreckage it responded fine. I have used two different ESC's, batteries, and motors, and I obtain the same results. I am flying outside on channel 51. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eric

Mike,

I think I may have figured out a way to do it using the
eclipses pmix (your mileage may vary on other radios).

Here are the steps

1. Set up elevon controls using mix ratio you desire
2. Set up the end point adjustments such that down
travel is 50% of up travel.
3. Using pmxx set ratio chan 2 to chan 2 to 100%
This means that for elevator function add 100% of input to
output. I don't know why this overrides the EPA but it does.
The mixes must happen after the EPA has been applied
in the controls.

This gives 1/2 inch travel up and down for elevator.
And 1/2 inch up and 1/4 inch down for aileron.

So total travel (for full aileron + elevator) is 1 inch up 3/4 inch down.

It shure would be nice if you posted a flow chart for the different
mixes and EPA stuff on the web site.

Hi Mike

For the above Crow/spoileron/flaperon, can you explain how the reverse differentials work and how can it be set up in the eclipse. I know the Futaba FF88 can do this and even set the above to kicks in at a particular point via the throttle stick.

Was it something we said?

ohmite- It is best to extend the antenna about half way to prevent any overload of the output transistor. Removing the crystal is not the same as removing the module in the Eclipse.

BEC- Sorry I missed you. #1 Yes. #2 All, but you would need another Eclipse to use the mixing. #3 Yes. Send it in and we'll check it out.

casioppc- I don't know... we don't import anything on that band into the US.

rustydog- The 555 is only 5 channels; you would need the to use the Supreme or Super Slim.

Balin- I don't think I have had anyone ever comment on that issue. Try spraying it with WD-40 then wipe if dry.

t-turley- It is always best to send it in and at least find out what the repair cost would be.

Al P- Thanks for the good words. I would send it in.

Rekit- Sorry to hear about the problems. The HS-55's are probably the best ultra micro servo on the market. It is rare that you would have such problems. If you send them in we will check them out and repair or replace them at no charge. I personally am flying four of them in a 31" aerobatic plane (Crazy 8) with a brushless motor that puts out over 250W. I would not hesitate to use them unless you are putting them in something that is outside of their capabilities. What was your specific application?

Sluf7- No word as of yet.

All__talk- No they will not, but you could use the new Laser 4 or 6.

The Other Dave- You would set this in the Elevon mixing mode, not the EPA.

Bengtson- I've never heard of this before. How does it work with a regular receiver and servos?

ianwells- Contact:

Amerang
Commerce Way, Lancing
West Sussex BN 15 8TE, United Kingdom
Tele/Fax-44-903765496 / 44-903765178

tenover- We must be backordered on the items.

ETrain- You can send them in and we will check them out. I strongly recommend the 555 dual conversion receiver; it has much better performance, and with the case off it only weighs 1/4oz more.

Magna- Reverse differential would give the more down travel than up on the ailerons. Yes, you can set it up, but I honestly don't know why you would want it.

rustydog- No, I've just been out of town and swamped with E-mails and phone calls once I got back.

I think it's time for V12, so please don't post here anymore.

Thanks!

Mike.
